I would love it if your right mate

Stranger things have happened in football bud, but this leagues the pits, it really is like lower league England.... So why would the captain of a champions League side want to make that drop.

Another thing, some folk say the likes of Aiden etc is in the £8M bracket, if so, Robbie Keane certainly is....

But I think Keane is linked with Everton & Villa (Good moves for him IMO) as well as Wolves etc.... If I was him, id look at those options!

    is Keane worth 8million? Yes.
Is Keane worth 8Million to us? No.

We simply can't afford to * that much on one player esp not a player who'll be 30 by the start of next season.

Would LOVE to have him again.

Maybe Spurs qualifying for the CL will help us in a way. They might feel that with CL money they can let him go cheaper.

If he is available we should at least try, his movement and mere presence on the pitch helps us hugely.

the last 15 years? :56: geezo. the pound isn't as strong as it was 15 years ago. Anyway, Keane has been bought for 6m when he was young 15mil when inter signed him. it's not a reflection of sky anything. inter don't have "Sky money"
it only got crazy when he was sold to liverpool then back to spurs.

£6m with £40k wages a week and it would be a no brainer for me. still think it was a HUGE mistake letting skippy go.

Bellamy may be an option as Man City look to strengthen and he may be pushed out. though he proved that money sways him. would love to see him back in the hoops.

Here's Neily saying AGAIN that he wants to try and keep Keano at Celtic if he gets the manager's job.

I want to keep Robbie Keane at Celtic if I get manager's job, says Neil Lennon

    May 8 2010 Gavin Berry
NEIL LENNON will pull out all the stops to keep Robbie Keane at Celtic next season if he lands the Parkhead job on a permanent basis.
And he's set to sign on-loan Landry Nguemo on a permanent deal also.
The Parkhead interim gaffer is making plans for his assault on next year's title even though he's still to land the job on a full-time basis.
Lennon takes his Old Firm heroes to Tynecastle tomorrow for a clash with Hearts that is expected to be Keane's last for his boyhood heroes.
However, Lennon won't give up hope of landing the Spurs striker for the new season if he's given the manager's job by Celtic supremo Dermot Desmond.
Parkhead chiefs have already entered into discussions to sign Nguemo from Nancy at Lennon's behest and he is now expected to clinch a £1.8million permanent deal when the clubs meet before the end of the month.
Celtic would face a fight for Keane, with Wolves and Sunderland just two of the clubs linked with an £8m move for the player who has two years left on his Spurs contract.
Lennon said: "I haven't given up hope. I said I'd like to get a marquee signing. If he was available, then why not?
"I haven't sat down and spoken to him yet. I will do that on Sunday, or maybe some time after, but ultimately it will be Robbie's call.
"Spurs qualified for the Champions League, that might be an incentive to go back. Or it might be an incentive to stay here and play in the Champions League because he might not get a game at Spurs. I don't know if it would be a loan again. I think the club could afford it. We'd love to have him.
"In conversations with Dermot, Robbie's name hasn't cropped up. We will have to talk about it after Sunday. If he wants to stay then we will have to seriously think about the transfer fee and wages. Ultimately it will be Dermot's call."
If Keane can be persuaded, he seems likely to be joined by Nguemo, who is also a target for Wigan and Sunderland, if the Bhoys take up their signing option by May 31.
Nancy president Jacques Rousselot said: "We expect to meet the Celtic directors on May 28th or 29th to confirm the move."
Celtic will face Chris Sutton's Lincoln City in a friendly at Sincil Bank on July 24.

I find the bolded bit particularly interesting.......

We needed a top quality player that is clearly well above anything in the SPL and Keane has proved himself to be that player.

£8000,000 is * of alot of money for Celtic but Keanes goals would probably win us the league next season. I can't see it happening but Dermot Desmond could easily bankroll this signing if he fancies it.

At 29 Keanes no youngster anymore but everyone can see his determination and enthusiasm for the game, I think he would be top quality for another 4 years at least.

i think it is the time for the board to actually spend some money, start by bringing in keane (or another top striker) and then strengthen the midfield and defence. if we spend now, we might not need to for a good wee while, just a few signings here and there to cover positions and "build for the future".

I'd love him to stay at Celtic and to have another few EPL players also. Cant see it happening unless Spurs drop asking price and we can be creative with a deal. Knowing us we will go for easy option and thats not to bother

Thing is we have Keane now and people also generally like Fortune, Mcgeady and Kamara. Well, although they all have some undoubted ablilty I do not want a forward line o the McGeady-Keane-Fortune-Kamara type next season. We have had a lot of that line up or similar lately and I am not particularly impressed by it. I would think 2 of them will not be retained anyway. They way a lot of people talk is like they rate those 4 but the reality is they do not make a good unit at all. They just are a poor blend. Three of them are luxury players, 2 are loans and IMO people are blind if they do not think Keane is a slow-mo shadow of the flying player we saw a few year back. He is clearly on the turn and looks good against wee SPL sides but not so good in the harder games.

Keane is just a decent player in a very poor Celtic team this season . I dont get the bit where he is the new mesiah .
