Well that depends what you mean by "classy" i suppose, for me Davis has been the classiest player in Scotland this year!

he's the preverbial salmon in the goldfish bowl. he's about three classes above every player in the spl. i would say however the bhoy doesnt look 100% fit to me. he'll be back down in england as fast as he can.

    Exactly!

    1. I dont believe for a second Lennon is "Begging" him every day!
    2. Even if we had £40M+ to spend, and offered him £80,000 P/W he wouldn't stay.

I agree with the OP in the sense it would be a win win situation, and to the people on here saying he isnt worth it etc... At the end of the day, hes a top class EPL striker, proven in the SPL with Celtic, playing with one off the worst squads around him in years, and he still stands out like a sore thumb.

But guys, we have to realise that celtic, even with the Champs League carrot, is not as big a interest for players to come to as even some relagation fighting EPL teams, or in some cases, promotion winning Championship teams, we need to have this realisation now.

We play ina pub league compared to the top 3 English leagues, and thats a fact.

    Come on mate...

He is a class act, there cant be an argument with that, he is playing with 10 other Haddys around him, you imagine him in the MON team....

On Davis, he is a really good player, you can tell a mile off he has premiership experience, and he could go down and play for half the sides in that league easily.

Over the whole season yes I would agree with you that Davis has been the best player.

Since arriving in January, Keano has been the best player in the country.

There is no guarentee season tickets would sell as the attendance hasn't really improved since he arrived. He would however sell merchandise and add to team dramatically.

Because we play in the SPL, and 65k a week wages is a no-go for a 3-4 year contract.

He would cost in the region of 8-12 million

Dont think his wife would fancy living here for that lon

Yes mate I would rather play in the spl challenging for trophies with the team I love than go through the motions with a mid table/relegation premiership team like wolves.so you have to question his love for the club.I feel he came here as a dedication to his father who did love the hoops

If we kept Keane his fee/wages would eat up our whole budget. That would mean the present team would be next years team. So its idiotic to buy one slightly aging quality payer and have the current muppets all around. Good managers like Craig Levein could probably buy a whole team of good players for the price of Robbie.

Bottom line is he is a good player but he is not worth the price/wages. We would get as good a player from the continent for half his fee and half his wages.

Who would he replace....isn't as good as Larsson, Hartson and Sutton. They fought for the jersey, and gave you a proper game if you were a centre-half. They have never got stage-frigth at Ibrox, and dont remember any of them being in a team that failed to beat 1st division opposition

i want him! most celtic fans want him! im pretty sure the board would like him longer? it does make sense to try as he is of high quality! but the bottom line is this? will the board and robbie and of course spurs come to an agreement?

Oh really? Perhaps you don't remember both Larsson and Hartson playing against First Division Inverness CT when they beat us 1-0 in the Scottish Cup.

Robbie Keane is in the same class as John Hartson and Chris Sutton. His goalscoring record in International football and the transfer fees big clubs have been willing to pay for him prove it.

If Robbie Keane had been part of that Martin O'Neill team he would have scored more goals than Sutton and possibly more than Hartson too. Also, suggesting Robbie Keane got stage fright at Ibrox is just silly. Keano is a class player. End of story.

Just remember he is a striker and blowing such a chunk of money on him is pointless if you a) dont give him the service and b) cant defend

Exactly mate, getting Keane would be no good if we cant defend, scoring goals this seasons hasnt really been a problem for us, its at the other end of the park 80% of our problems lie imo. With 8m we could sign a quality centre half and have change for 2 or 3 more players, (Maybe a left back and a dominant experienced CM, maybe Bullard? Would be a fantastic player for the club, really hope he can bring him in)

You cant really be serious there mate...

If Keane was at celtic park as long as Larsson, at the same time, with the management and team mates that Henky had, he wouldnt really be far off legendary status that Larsson was mate, the boys class, and has proven it for years in arguably the best league in the world.

And sutton and Hartson, loved them both mate, but in my opinion (just opinions) Keane is a better player than both, look at the 3 players careers, the sides they have played for and the cash they have went for, anyways....

Sometimes I just think people get a bit bitter because he isnt staying, cause any football fan watching Keane in scotland, cant possibly feel he isnt worth the cash etc...

    Spot on Amigo!

The board would get a chunk if not all the money splashed out on him with season tickets, merchindice (worldwide), tickets sales the bigger interest from Ireland again. Without Keane i reckon 30 thousand season tickets if lucky, with keane we could get nearer 50 thousand. And obviously with Keane on board we could attract better players, and just maybe Champion league football and money again. The board must take this gamble this year and prove to us all that they mean bussiness.
