I don't know if any of the Members are South Park Fans (Personally I love the show) but last week was the 200th episode which featured the Muslim prophet Mohammed wearing a giant bear mascot suit and other ridiculous things. Well the 201st episode which was gonna go even further and actually show Mohammed which is a no no according to Muslims has been censored after a fundamentalist Muslim group threatened the Comedy Central. I might add that the 200th episode showed Jesus watching * and Buddha doing cocaine and also a mix of other religious figures so as usual no one is safe from South Park.

Ever since the riots following the Danish cartoons depicting Mohammed wearing a bomb turban have these narrow minded and basically evil extremists been able to apply pressure to the media to tip toe round them and I've got to say I for one am sick of it. I am not Muslim and therefore do not expect to be constrained by their rules and if I want to watch an uncensored image of Mohammed on TV then I should be able to do so. As always the solution is, if they don't like it don't watch it!!!!!

OK Rant over. That felt good.

I watched the muhammed episode and thought it was brilliant. Neither us nor America is a muslim country and shouldn't bend to fit their rules.

To me, there's a difference between 'close to the bone' and offensive.

I think South Park and Family Guy in particular have crossed the line a bit in recent years.

Don't get me wrong, I love them both and will openly admit to * myself laughing even at the dodgy ones, but it now often looks as if they are just seeing how far they can push it.

That's really the motto of Islam to be honest.

Bullshit. What a narrow minded post.

I suppose all Catholic priests are peados? Or black people are all criminals?

I'm from the country of Geert Wilders.
He states that Islam is endangouring the freedom op speech.
Next thing happens is that he is persecuted for offensive talk by the Dutch government, he isn't allowed to enter Britain and he is threatened by many Muslim extremists.

So...doesn't that prove he may be right?

He doesn't say it's the motto of all muslims.
But it's the motto of the religion Islam. The ideology.

I just totally disagree with influence a small and violent minority can have on our everyday lives. Its not just censorship; look at the way we travel now - security up the * because of a minority that uses violence to further is bile and hate filled message.

But I don't want to go off topic so I'll try and stick to censorship.

Here's a scenario for everyone; Christians are being badmouthed on an American sitcom. They get the hump and threaten to harm those involved the episode is either censored or pulled. How likely does this sound? It would never happen the network showing the show would continue to do so or and at the most would run a warning before the show explaining that it has offensive content. It seems to be largely Muslim minority groups that get their own way on a regular basis and it is just plain wrong. Do I think the episode should be shown on TV in Pakistan or Iran, probably not but do I think it should be censored in a country which puts freedom of speech as a cornerstone value of it's society then I say a resounding NEVER!!!!! If you begin to censor then where do you stop?

The Qur'an is manipulated by extremeists to justify violence, it actually preaches tolerance and love possibly even more than the bible. (Have you read the bible? That thing is * hardcore)

those people can dish it out but they can't take it. we shouldn't have regards for a bunch of hypocrites and go on with the show.. not censored of course.

also wouldn't hurt if they could get a bit of humour.

Mohammed married a six year old girl and consummated the marriage when she was nine. I don't understand how people can worship a figure like this no matter what time period it was in he did it.

Have South Park not touched on this before when they ripped Family Guy?

Yes they did, when the whole Mohammed cartoon scandal happened.

They also had Mohammed on South Park about 9/10 years ago in the episode Super Best Friends.

Wasn't a problem back then, just shows extremists getting excessive media coverage can * everything up for the general population.

This is just pure ignorance, unbelievable.

Sick of extremists who threateing murder if they dont like something, dictate what i can watch as entertainment in a country that is supposed ot practice free speech. if they if they dont like it, turn over the channel or live in a country which supports their extremist beleifs and censorship. the people who threaten creators of a western TV show and the network its aired on, will have no problem watching an infidel being beheaded. I dont see many budhists goin mental over depictions of budha snorting coke in front of the SP lads.

Western Television should not be allowed dictated by an extremist minority under the guise of a peaceful religion

This thread is about censorship and South Park, not the rights and wrongs of Islam or any other faith, please keep the thread on topic.

"Super best friends" episode from 2001 included Muhammed and no-one gave a * back then. And now they censored it and Muslims are going mental over it. They really need to chill, it's pathetic and blatantly transparent to use this as an excuse to threaten Stone and Parker.

South Park have been pushing it far recently, but personally don't think any of that stuff is too offensiveand certainly doesn't merit threats like these. On the other hand, don't know how Muslims feel about this.

It's known that in islam they don't show faces of their prophets and important people (or people at all), but rather concentrate their art towards herbs. But they can't expect everyone to look at it that way.

They should change their tolerance threshold to prevent stuff like this happening and generally their way of thinking is simply ridiculous.

South Park should not have to censor anything this is only showing that a minority of extremists can get away with threatening behaviour towards a tv station its a disgrace :31::31::31::31::38::38::38::38:

Have they ever actually shown Muhammad in South Park, or just a censored version?

Because I've seen the Family Guy episode of SP, and it was censored.

They have shown him in episode "Super best friends" along with Buddha, Jesus, Moses and Krishna. And no-one made big deal out of it then.

And then in latest episode they do this and get death threats:

Muhammed dressed in bear suit. Strange one? Offensive? * yeah! Kill the *!

    * idiots of highest order.
