He's a very good player yes. But at the end of the day, he isn't even a key player for tottenham, so why are we paying 65k in wages for him?

No doubt he will go back there and move on to another club. A club like Man u Arsenal Chelsea, I don't think so. More like one fighting relegation.

I would prefer a solid midfielder like Petrov back instead of him to be honest.

Robbie Keane winning player of the year just shows how badly the team has been this season. I mean a guy who has been here for what, 12 weeks picking up this award.

I would like to see him stay myself but i doubt he will to be honest. Money & the fact Spurs will most likely not want to sell are two msaavie obstacles. Lets hope we get better guys in next season in the Keane mould.

The whole team has been posted missing in important games. His goals for his short space of time, You can't argue with those stats.

we may not even be second but for his goals. I reckon Spurs will look to add a CL class striker to the team and Robbie may be surplus. If we could be creative about the deal and Robbie was in a settled team I think he'd be great.

    Not really.

And you are missing a capital T.

Anyway i dont think Keane has any intention of staying in Scotland.

Even if Keano's future doesn't lie at Tottenham, it probably lies at another English club and not at Celtic Park. :54:

i think it will be for him to decide where he goes mate in all honesty? redknapp i think will punt him so celtic to me is by far the better option as he has stated money isnt the be all and end all.

It will only be up to him to decide IF Celtic come up with the transfer fee to buy him. We're probably talking £9-10million anyway to buy Robbie Keane - do you really see our board stumping that up? I don't.

There are only 2 conceivable ways this deal could happen in my opinion....

    1. Dermot Desmond funds the whole thing and buys Keane for Celtic.

    2. Spurs decide they want Brown or McGeady and we do a cash plus player deal. Keano will still have to drop his wage demands for the deal to go through though imo.

I just don't see either of these scenarios playing out. I would dearly love it if I'm wrong but I just can't see how this deal is realistically going to happen.

Could we not get Spurs at the same stage as we got aresenal? coz they finished 4th and as far as is know its the same circumstances until next season

And as for Keane staying, he has said he doesn;t want to. Simple.

And to be honest, why woud he? it is not jsut about money. It's about playing at Fir Park, Rugby Park, pitches you can build sancatles on & * SPL teams, that would get pumped of your average League 1, possibly 2, side.

If you are committed to a profession, you want to challenge the best, end of. Anyone who says "I'll play for Celtic no matter who came in" is talking balls because they have never been in that situation and a really good team, whether it be Spurs, Villa, Arsena etc, came in it is hard to knock it back. With proper pro's like Keane it is not all about the money, it is about testing your skill against the best.

I expect him to be wearing blue next season... at Everton.

Would only want him to stay if he was happy to fall in line with the rest of the squad in terms of wages.

Yes I beleive that is correct. We could also get the 4th place team from Spain or Italy or the third place team from France or Germany (provided we get through the third round of qualifying) At the end of the day things won't be easy.

Amazing footballer, as intelligent as a forward as you'll find and I'd love with all my heart for him to be here next year.

As depressing as it is, the long and short of it is, he is better than Celtic in our current state and in our current league. Why should a guy in his footballing prime move to a * league to play * teams on a * surface earning less money and doing less for his career? He made a sacrifice to play for Celtic and I'll be forever grateful personally for that.

He's trying his hardest not to disrespect the fans. You do realise the media would spin the * out of it if he called a spade a spade.

I reckon he'll be at Tottenham next season if they get 4th, if not he'll move to Aston Villa.

If the board are really serious about what they say, they'll convince him to stay and add players of similar quality to the squad. They talk the talk but walk like a constipated duck.

Even if the club could put together a package for him that was financially viable, I still can't see him staying.

The only thing that might work in our favour is he might feel he has something to prove, given we've finished the season empty-handed.

Craig Bellamy has spoken in the past of having 'unfinished business' up here after the horrors of Fir Park in 2005, maybe Robbie will feel the same way, especially given Celtic is close to his heart.

    Here's hoping.
