Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell has revealed how he considered an audacious move to bring Henrik Larsson back.
Lawwell sounded out the Champions League winning Barcelona striker and his agent Rob Jansen but was made aware straight away that the striker was joining Swedish side Helsingborg.
Lawwell told the Daily Record: "I spoke to Henrik and his agent Rob Jansen but three words into it I was told 'no'.
"So there was no point pushing it any further as Henrik had made up his mind.
"All I'll say is if Henrik had shown any interest in coming back we'd have been keen to talk to him."
Lawwell wants Stilian Petrov back at the club for pre-season training despite the midfielder handing in a transfer request.
Lawwell added: "We don't want to sell Stilian Petrov, we want him back here for pre-season. Can his mind be changed? I just want him to see sense and come back."
Lawwell also wants Shunsuke Nakamura, Neil Lennon and Roy Keane to be back for the start of pre-season, adding: "We expect him (Nakamura) back and we want him back - in fact it's the same for Petrov, Lenny and Roy."
Celtic are still interested in Sparta Prague defender Michal Kadlec.
Brazilian winger Denilson is the latest name to be linked with a move to the SPL champions.
The samba superstar was once the world's most expensive player when he joined Real Betis for a whopping £21.5million in 1998.
Their chairman Jean-Louis Triaud said: "He is in contact with Celtic and Tottenham."

Would be nice but I think we all know his heart is set back on going home. He had a great journey with us and barca - now he wants to settle down.

I think it was worth a cheeky try, just on the off chance. He would still walk into our first team, and can still cut it at the highest level. I think he is right to go home though.

It would have nice to see him pull on the hoops again, but I like the fact that he left us in true superhero style. Did the double, scored 44 goals, two goals in final CP appearance, then two goals to turn the cup final around.

To hav henrik back would hav been great. I respect his decision to go home, He's had an incredible journey with both celtic and barca and it's only fair to let him go back home.
I agree that in a way it's good he's not back , we can all remeber him as the hero that we all love.

Is this the extent of our negative board and majority shareholder, trying to pretend they are attempting the positive?
Might fool some of y`all, but no me! :56:

I just noticed in the Evening Times an article by Tosh McKinlay, he said that at least the Celtic support will give Lawwson a gold star for attempting to get Larsson, what * *, thats what I was getting at, you can pull the wool over the apologists eyes but others you cant!
    OBVIOUSLY McKinlay crap personified! *

Yes, that it, blame the board for everything. The team fails to beat artmedia, its the boards fault, the spl is not lucrative, blame the board, player wont come to scotland because the SPL is a horse race at best and they want high wages to do so, the boards fault.

Not everything is handled by the board.

Dempsey you are entitled to being an apologist, and make excuses for the negative approach, the SPL may be a horse race, but the powers that be in regards to the CL is not a horserace, its horseshit!
I do hold the negative board and majority shareholder primarily responsible for Celtic regressing!
Just like you can be fooled into giving a so called gold star to Lawwson for trying to get Larsson, I say you are easily pleased and fooled! :87:
Oh and by the way keep on backing the negative approach, please dont hint that I should do likewise! :56:

And what about the "dynasty" that almost bankrupted the club, their "we'll buy our way out of trouble" attitude is why we are a plc and why we have only one majority investor. The board are trying to clear our debt and are investing in youth.

    Where are your shares?

P.S. Who's "Lawwson", I think you have never read an interim report or have any clue in how the club is doing financially. At least what I'm saying is based on facts, what are you basing your opinion on?
