who would you rather aiden mcgeady or alan thompson

Alan Thompson.

Alan often produced an end product, Aiden rarely does. Simples.

 

Well, McGeady is probably better but I rather Alan Thompsom

 

Thommo for me every time. More effective in big games -against Rangers and in Europe. Also has a better final ball.

Thomo he accually went to old firm games.

 

Thompson every day of the week. Simply a better footballer.

 

thompson obviously he done it in every season for us apart from his last where he lost his edge. mcgeady only shows up now and again against a crap team

 

mcgeady is a class player with bundles of skill(ok his final ball is poor) but still. thompson is no where near the class of mcgeady.

To easy, Thompson was class, maybe he didn't have the flair of McGeady but the game is about end product and Thomo certainly had that!!

 

I'd have to back McGeady on this one. Thommo was a terrific player, but he also played in a much better Celtic side, a luxury McGeady has never enjoyed.

I reckon the abuse McGeady gets on here is so harsh, there have been times in the last two years when he has completely carried us, offering the only spark in a mediocre squad. The constant argument about him having NO final ball is not fair either. I agree it is the weakest part of his game but you could list a multitude of goals McGeady has created for us over the last two years and you'd be daft not to accept that. This weekend he was inches away from a brilliant brace of goals.

As for never doing it at the top level, don't buy that either. I remember him carrying us against Benfica and getting the wining goal, I also remember great performances against Milan and against Arsenal he was one of few wo didn't look out of place. Repeatedly in the Champions League he was our best player. For all his flaws, and not my favourite character (unlike Thommo who was a real fighter, leader and character) I think McGeady gets undue abuse.

So, McGeady over Thommo, but not to demeen Thommo's work with us. A real favourite of mine, but I think McGeady in O'Neil's side might have added something different.

Thommo was the finished article when he was at Celtic.
When he was Aiden's age, he was no great shakes either!

 

McGeady wouldn't have got a game in O'Neill's team. No disrespect to him but lubo never got a consistent game and he was above and beyond any level McGeady has reached so far. Thompson was far more of a team player, better final ball and a regular scorer in old firm games as well as many others. Thompson for me

 

Alan Thompson by a mile.

His crossing is better, he created more goals, he scored more goals, he played some of his best games against the Huns(Aiden is * against the Huns most of the time), he can tackle and help out defensively, he knew when to pass the ball to a team-mate(Aiden doesn't) and he got stuck in even if he wasn't having his best game.

McGeady isn't even close to Alan Thompson imo.

Difficult one this.

My instinct says thompson but I would be skeptical about what he can do in this celtic side.

 

Alan Thompson, favourite all-time Tic player and a big-game player, unlike McGeady.


Scored the same amount of Champions League goals as Larsson, and a stupid amount of goals against the Huns from midfield.
