as much as i would love to say yes,the huns would need to lose 4 games and draw 1, not to mention we would have to win all our games. i just dont see it happening

Yeah I think so. Look at this for statistics:

    07/08 Season after 30/31 games:
    position, team, played, points
    1. Huns 30 75
    2. Celtic 31 68

    07/08 season as it finished:
    position, team, played, points
    1. Celtic 38 89
    2. Huns 38 85

    09/10 Season:
    position, team, played, points
    1. Huns 30 70
    2. Celtic 31 60

So we are now at the exact same point in the season as we were in 07/08, except we are 10 points behind instead of 7. However we ended up winning the league by 3 points. So if we start winning the rest of our league games, including the last OF, and the Huns continue the meltdown that they're currently in, then it's possible.

I'd say it's up to Lenny to just motivate the players and keep winning. Then we can just hope for the Huns to continue slipping up. They've still got Aberdeen and Dundee Utd before the split, both of who have beaten them this season. And then after the split, they'll have us, dundee utd, hibs, motherwell and st johnstone probably.

    * it, we're gonna win the league. And no i've not been on the pish the night!

    No.

Here's why: This team has no understanding. Mowbray sold too many of the players that knew what kind of passion playing for Celtic requires and how the Scottish game works (in terms of how smaller clubs we play set themselves up against us and are always motivated to beat us, and how much more of a physical game it is in Scotland) and brought in too many players who (other than their understanding that Celtic is a 'big' club in the respect that they compete in European competitions, have beaten teams like Milan, Man U, etc, progressed to the last 16, and are a relatively large name in football) don't understand that Celtic is a 'big' club not only in name, but in heart. Our fans are passionate. Our club is built upon passion. Our squad is not passionate.I can't imagine how players like Fortune, Ki, Zhi, Braafheid, Hooiveld, or Rogne could have any understanding of what it truly means to play for Celtic.

Take the signing of Nakamura for example. Obviously, coming from Japan, he knew little about the passion required to play for Celtic. However, Nakamura had players in the squad back then to explain to him just how big it is to play for Celtic, and what the fans expected of him. He soon came to understand what he had to do, and did it well.

However, this season, the decision to sell a good amount of the players who truly know what this club is about and who could have passed the passion on to those joining the club from abroad, in combination with the signing of players (Ki, Zhi, Braafheid, Hooiveld, Rogne, N'Guemo, Fortune (I'm leaving out Rassmussen as I feel he actually does understand the club, i.e. his first goal celebration)) who come from places where the passion and understanding of Celtic Football Club are not fully understood, has resulted in a team that won't show the same amount of strength, unity, determination, and consistency to pull off the same feat we did two years ago.

Also, another difference between this season and the 2007/2008 season is that we had the motivating factor of winning the title for Tommy Burns - a person who inspired and befriended many players of the 2007/2008 squad. I wonder if our newly signed players even know who Tommy Burns was.

This is just my opinion, but I think our team has: lost too many players who know what Celtic is all about and could have passed that passion along to our foreign squad members, and signed too many players that don't completely understand what this club is all about. I see a direct relationship between the loss of big hearted Scottish players like Robson, McManus, and Caldwell (no matter how * anyone think they might have been, they all were passionate about the club), the signing of too many foreign players (no matter their potential), and our standing in the league.

Hopefully, with the appointment of Lennon as manager, he can show this squad what it means to wear the green and white hoops.

I love your optimism pal the only difference is that in that season we had to home old firm games to play. I do think it is possible but very very very unlikely

If this goes to the last 3 games and they have not wont the league it will be an amazing bit of work by Lennon. I was thinking Yesterday if we lose the league by 7pts and win the Cup then that is a success. Considering mowbray left when we were 10pts behind and they had 2 games in hand so effectively Lenny would have made up 9pts and won the Cup in only 10 games. If that happens then there is no reason why Lenny should not be considered for the job

offer the other teams an incentive. £500,000 donation towards their youth development to beat the huns.:84: game on. a couple of million out and a good few million in. :50:

then when they bring on their youngsters with the cash we gave , we poach their players on the cheap and hey presto, money back. :50:

that would be magic , however, highly unlikely.

My heart says yes but my head says no.

If we can close the gap a fair bit and win the Scottish Cup I'll be sort of happy.

No but I think we'll close the gap a bit to make it look at least a bit more respectable.

It would be the comeback of all time. But unlike last time rangers dont have a lot of fixture build up as they only have league games left. Also were two of their remaining games in 07/08 not against us at parkhead?? Might be wrong there.

Like DanniGhirl says im hoping we can close the gap and make it look a bit more respectable.

About the same chance as Boyd scoring against us :icon_mrgreen:

On a serious note, not a chance, Robbie Keanes 1st game against Kilmarnock which we lost and the 4-4 draw at Aberdeen were the games that we let it slip away, won them two games we would be very much in the title race, at least we can make it look more respectable

You play til the final whistle and thats what am doin!!

Gers haven't won in there last 3 games now and maybe a bit of complacency is creeping in and the are feeling the pressure of being the favs!

We have nothing to lose and they have it all to lose. It doesn't matter how far behind we are I never say never until it is completely tied up!
