you're right its sheer bigoted hypocrisy for them to complain about the Popes visit yet every July they march, spreading their bigoted filth

i'm an atheist, though even i would be rather interested to see the Pope, after all, as a history student its not every day a historically relevant figure like the Pope visits; i'm no fan of the Catholic church, though my parents are so it will be good for them to see the Pope

quite frankly, the orange order can get to *

Not surprised to hear that the Orange Order are complaining about the Popes visit. They are quite open in their hatred of all things catholic, so a visit by the Head of the Catholic Church / Faith was hardly going to be welcomed by them. Their not a threat to the Popes visit and will be put swiftly in their box should they step too far out of line in this day and age. Let them live in the past and laugh at how pathetic the whole Orange Order are. I have no interest in seeing the Pope but as someone else said he brings comfort to the hearts of many and if thats the case then why shouldnt he be free to visit Scotland where a large portion of the population follow him.

Why exactly? What's the pope done to deserve respect?

Maybe when he starts supporting women's right to choice or stops encouraging the spread of AIDS in africa, maybe then I'll respect him a little.

BTW I was brought up in a Catholic primary school so don't accuse me of ignorance.

    For one

The thread is about the orange order... stop dragging it off topic by giving personal views of the pope

I have no involvement in religion but don't deliberately come onto a forum where a great many supporters follow a faith and insult someone highly respected by them. Have respect for fellow others beliefs

A bit hypocritical considering this thread is all about disrespecting the religious beliefs of others, no?

BTW the thread title is about the pope's visit so IMO we're still on topic.

Nothing to do with being fashionable (in my case anyway)

And I'm not having a pop at catholics, I'm having a pop at the pope :icon_mrgreen:
