True enough ! I should have specified since Valgaeran or McNamara, neither of which were natural LB, were able to do adequate jobs for us in that part of the pitch.

A defender should be able to defend. If they can attack then thats a bonus but be a defender first and formost

Defensive. Like the old man Benali, who was in Southampton.

Lee Wallace knows how to win the SPL?.........

But aye, I agree. We need to get players in with abit of passion and dig. It's quite obvious that it is needed in alot of games throughout the season.

Although it's also quite obvious that Mowbray isn't interested in other Scottish SPL players.

Nadir Belhadj is a decent player though, from what I've seen of him.

Good going forward like Andy Hinkel.

Id take Braafhied , reminds me of Hinkel when he first came and could get caught out defensively.Hinkel has improved his defensive game and so can Braafhied !

I remain unconvinced with Braafheid and get the impresion he is only looking at us as a way of ensuring he gets to the game time to go to world cup..!!

I used to like the look of Nicky Shorey when he was a Reading, don't know if he is still at Villa now or has moved on but i'd imagine he'd be attainable if not him I'd maybe go for Kilbane in a short term capacity

For me it's Nicky Shorey no contest. MON is interested in signing Keano in the summer and Shorey is one of three players he is offloading to help finance the deal. I said last summer and will say it again now we should make him a priority.

What about the Unirea left back that played amazing against that mob in the champions league !!! Quality defencively and strong going forward. To answer the question I would prefer defensive minded full backs and give wingers more freedom.

Good in defence is the priority because we have plethora of attacking midfielders who can be creative without much help from full-backs. And even if that imaginary LB is poor when going forward, I don't think he could be incapable of putting a simple cross like certain Wolves lad we signed few years ago.

Jose Concalves of Hearts is another tall solid defensive LB. He can also play CB.So his versatility would be a bonus.

I think that's who we'll end up with. We've shown interest in the past, and he's a free in the summer...

Don't know if he'd be a good signing, not really paid much attention to him when he's played against us and I don't pay much attention to the huns of midlothian so....

I've been saying for a while that I'd like Celtic to go for Lee Wallace. I still think Wallace could be an asset but the more I think on it the more I think he's not the answer. Wallace is a full-back who is great going forward but he's only average defensively. I want a full-back who is SOLID defensively and Wallace, good as he is, probably isn't that guy.

    Maybe Wallace isn't the answer.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a defensively solid full-back that we could buy? I'm struggling to think of one.

I would prefer a defensively solid CB, even if it's a CB converted into a LB. Someone who can tuck in when our CB's need extra cover.
