Yes we were right to sell McDonald.

I can't understand why people are saying we should have sold Samaras. Doesn't anyone remember it was Sammy that was scoring the goals while Skippy was struggling.

errrrmmm... that's his job isn't it?

(Pity he doesn't do it more often or even settle for missing fewer sitters or errrm even just try to keep possession... otherwise he's fine)

Voted McDonald for 2 reasons ,Firstly ,you would'nt have got 3.5 million for Sammi and it funded new players ,and Secondly ,McDonald wasnt the player he was and if someone offers you that kind of money for someone obviously off the boil ,you take it.

I know Samaras is not Robbie Keane but when Scott McDonald wasn't scoring and Samaras was we were all shouting for Skippy to be dropped and Sammy was the main man. How times change.

So looking back, at the time Sammy was doing more than Skippy was. Skippy could barely control a ball never mind score a goal!

With hindsight of the last 2 months I voted for Sammy- but I think this poll is pointless because wee Scott would go thro' periods without scoring too!
We seem to be a fickle bunch of fans now!!
Why vote if this is a pointless poll ? I ask myself, maybe I am getting fickle too!!!:56:

No, I would have done my best to keep him, was a proven SPL scorer and for just 3.5m i wouldnt have let him go. I would have tried to get about 6m for him if he really wanted to go, obviously we dont know the in's and outs of the deal but if it was Moggas decision i feel it was the wrong one. Only way i would sell him is if i had another proven goalscorer in the team. Maybe he thought that it was time to move on but i think 3.5m for a guy that scored 51 goals in 88 appearances isnt great bussiness. He wasnt eveyone's cup of tea but he knew where the net was which is all you need. Anyway i wish him well at Boro.

either him or sammy had to go. they never got on and how many times i saw skippy not put ssammy through and vice-versa. Ultimately, for me, sammy offers more to the team because he can pass a ball. McDonald knew where goal was but had lost his pace and couldn't pass

People say he gives it away but the fact is he operates in the most difficult part of the pitch for passing either high up the wing or high in the middle. (though that pass to Keano that was flagged was no good i'll admit.)

Yes 100% should have sold him, he was the mole in the dressing room and was a lazy so and so. To make a profit on him of that much is great sell him and fund new talent which sounds good. Would like to see Samaras go in the summer, would keep Fortune he looks to be getting his act together and looks more like a footballer everytime i watch him play and he's starting to pick up a few goals which is good.

Its quite clear he shouldnt have let him go

He also sold the league when he let robson and caldwell leave and even mccmanus

I wasnt a big fan of the centre hals but ffs they are miles in front of what we have been playing since they left, I thought they would be replaced when they left but none of them have been and were now paying the price for playing 2 hot prospects

ffs it rages me that teams in this league like hamilton and falkirk are stronger at centre half than us ???????????? Any manager only had to watch us last season to know what was needed and that was a decent centre half !!!!! still not bought yet!!!!

We needed 1 or 2 centre halfs
A decent striker/ not fortune he,s flopped imo considering what we paid for him
A left winger with a bit of pace

There,s no doubt there mistakes been made and i am not blaming the manager i think the manager got TOLD THEY WERE GETTING SOLD i dont think it was tonys desicion

Selling him isn't the reason we're 13 points behind the huns. He scored goals for us but had massive flaws in his game which would only hold us back in any attempt to become a dynamic, passing side which is where we are continually told we're heading.

We bought him for thrupence he did the business and we sold him for millions, Celtic should be conducting more business like that. The huns have been doing it for years and years....Hutton, Boumsong, Cuellar, Arteta, VanBronkhorst etc etc etc...

True.. I'd say the 13 point gap at this stage of the season is probably down to two things.. The huns gaining a higher percentage of points than they have been used to doing (by 3 points).. Us underachieving (by 10 points)..

I think Mcdonald was heading for no mans land.. Another season down the line and I reckon he'd have been even less of an asset to us and even harder to shift , so selling was correct..
If the club had sold players at the right time then we'd have taken money for JVOH if it was on the table (as reported) a year ago in January.. I don't think Skippy will get back to the heights he was at here , scoring regularly and also in big games..
