    always liked him.

it is a shame the way quite a lot of players leave us just quietly. like thompson and sutton etc

Jan was never given his due credit while here. He was a rock for us and one of the most passionate players i've seen

Always thought he was underrated at country level too. He scored a lot for holland in euro qualifiers and was then benched for the euro championships in 2008.

44 goals in 108 appearances is a * of a decent scoring record especially with the injuries he faced.

It's too bad he got injured, things probably would have been very different otherwise. Good luck to him at Hull.

have u seen a handsome hun
he done us a turn and scored some crucial goals....in many ways he was a better link up man for skippy than a prolific striker. but it was a shame that his last season he looked like he'd lost a lot of mobility due to fitness issues. i for one will remember him fondly.

Think the injuries took their toll on him at the end up.

Met him in Milan airport and he was a cracking big guy, stood and had a chat and posed for pictures.

" Yet, if Vennegoor of Hesselink could offer one piece of advice to Mowbray, who is likely to field an entire team of non-Scots against Falkirk today, it would be to retain an indigenous element in his long-term vision. “The Scottish boys like Mick [Stephen McManus] and Gary [Caldwell] helped me immensely when I joined Celtic,” he said. “They transferred the passion to me. You need home-grown players in every team.

“When I first arrived at Celtic, I thought I understood the tradition of the club, but I didn’t. The Scottish boys helped me. I had to learn and I was soon addicted to Celtic. I started to understand the culture and in time it became like an infection. It’s still with me. Regardless of your nationality, Celtic never leaves you." "

    Are you reading this Tony?

Always liked the big man, unfortunate about his injuries in his last season, he never got back to his best.
