Not saw this posted yet, sorry if it has been.

Good read and promising if you believe Mowbray deserves time, which I am:50:

UNDER-FIRE Tony Mowbray was last night promised the "loyalty" of the Celtic board.

Saturday's 4-4 draw at Aberdeen allowed Rangers to go ten points clear in the SPL with an emphatic 3-0 victory over Hibs 24 hours later.
Walter Smith's champions also have a vastly superior goal difference going into the final 13 games.
But Mowbray - who suffered more stick from seething Hoops fans over the weekend - WON'T face the sack after one season if the title is lost.
Chairman John Reid instead told SunSport Mogga deserves the board's support while he rebuilds the team.
Reid said: "When a new manager is asked to do that, rebuild while also try for instant success, when he wants to renovate, he has a right to expect our loyalty and our support. And he deserves that support in two ways.
"One is the resources we've put at his disposal to try and rebuild the team in the short and longer term. And secondly to give him our backing through that difficult period. That is what the board is trying to do.
"I don't give a running commentary on every game, or every aspect of our success or failures, wins or defeats throughout the year.
"We put the manager in there to do a job - and it's a difficult job.
"It involves renovating the team, reshaping it, remodelling it and trying to give us football success and entertainment in the short term, while also building a team that can be successful in the long term.
"If we go through the season, we are under no illusions about the challenge we face. We have an ENORMOUS task ahead in recovering the current league position.
"But we will do that with determination, we'll do it with commitment and we'll provide, as we have done, the resources to the manager to rebuild the team and give him the backing to do so.
"Tony is there because we believe he's the man who can rebuild this team and renovate it for the future. Not just for short-term success - but long-term success.
"And I think when you ask a manager to do that, to carry out a big change, to rebuild for the future, you owe him out of loyalty the obligation of putting resources at his disposal."
Reid, though, isn't blind or deaf to the fury of many Celts fans who are far from convinced by Mowbray nine months into his reign as manager.
He said: "Naturally, I understand perfectly the fans at a club like Celtic, which has got such a reputation and record, demand that we have success in the short term as well as build for a successful future. That's what we are trying to do.
"I think anybody who looks at what we're doing in terms of putting in the investment for that - and you know the names as well as I do - there has obviously been an investment in the team.
"That's only been possible because we kept the club in a stable financial position over the years.
"If we were where we were six years ago, with the debt we couldn't have done that.
"That is part of what our obligation of loyalty to the manager is - and we're trying to make sure we discharge that.
"There is no other purpose at Celtic for making a profit than to plough that profit back into success on the field.
    "That's what we are doing."

so we need to win the league and be in the champions league for them to invest more money next season on new players so what will happen if we don't win the league or don't reach the group stages of the champions league we will stand too loose keane, n'guemo, edson, kamara who all start

I hope they do stick by him and don't listen to the all too vocal minority who like to bump their gums every time we don't win a match.

alota gum bumping as you put it, due to the fact we haven't won alota games this season, 5 away wins all season thats the kinda thing ye expect to hear fay Hearts or hibs, not celtic

Btw that sounds like the dreaded Board Vote of Confidence for Mowbray usually a kiss of death. A hope mowbray turns it all around n rams it right up everybody (myslef included) who supports celtic but not TM and builds the team everybody wants to see

Sorry but writing off a manager, a manager who has done a good job at both his previous clubs, after only 7 months in the job is just short-term thinking as far as I'm concerned(especially when he has had to do major surgery to the team/squad) and you're not going to convince me otherwise.

It's obvious I won't convince you either. So we'll just have to see how it plays out won't we. I hope that you will continue to give Tony Mowbray your backing while you are attending the matches though.

    Thats an absolute ridiculous comment.

So you feel that its the vocal minority who dont know too much about football, and only complain when we drop points, that voice our concerns?

Look at our league and cup form this season.
Look at how Mogga failed to build from the back when he came in.
the most wins we have strung together is 3 games.

This could go on mate. You give me one logical reason why I shouldnt be thinking that we are not going forward. You are burying your head in the sand mate as was stated above, whats your reason for backing Mogga ??

And please dont come in with the "we are celtic fans, family, best supporters in the world, he needs time nonsense!"

He has been a drastic failure, its as simple as, this is as bad if not worse than PLG, and we will be struggling for a year or 2 down the line after he leaves due to the state of our side at the moment. it could be said that 3 or 4 of our best players are loan signings.

As Tony has had less than ONE full season in charge, I beg to differ.

Glad to hear that's the attitude of the board! Mogga's team are still a group of new players and not once this season have we been able to feild Mogga's first choice 11!!
Next season it will come good! We will walk the leauge .. Then we will see all those who have not backed Mogga eat there words.

Try waiting more than two thirds of a season, mate.

Yes, THIS season, Tony's FIRST season in charge. The man isn't a miracle worker, he needs time, like anyone else.

It's not his fault if his defensive targets were unavailable or asking for too much in wages (eg. Ivan Ramis), I'm sure, given...oooh heres that word you all love to hate, TIME, the defensive frailties will be sorted in coming transfer windows.

This is an unfortunate fact that can't be ignored, but I've seen enough in the games we have played to see that Mowbray is building a cracking side.

He hasn't had the time to take the team ANYWHERE!

My reasons for backing Tony Mowbray are:

    1. I'm impressed with what he's done as a manager at Hibs and WBA
    2. He has a track record of getting his teams playing good football. I have no reason to believe he won't bring that to Celtic
    3. He has got rid of a lot of crap players that the fans wanted rid of
    4. None of his signings have been failures up to this point
    5. He has done major surgery to our squad so it's perfectly natural that the team has become incosistent. I am willing to wait and watch while he works out what his best team is and then I will make a judgement on what he's serving up when that time comes. Not now.

Whether you want to acknowledge it or not there is a few of our fans who spout the same * every time we don't win a match. It's always either the board's fault for not spending more, Tony Mowbray's fault for substituting someone or Samaras/Fortune'e/Brown/Naylor's fault for being a useless *. :87: There are people who cannot accept the fact that Celtic cannot win every match or win the league every season. It's about time they woke up to the fact that we can't.

This season didn't start out as one that was going to be a transitional season but that is exactly how it has turned out. So I am going to be patient and see this transitional phase through. If things go * up in the first few months of next season then yes I will probably want Tony Mowbray to go as well but I'm not calling for his head now. No way. He hasn't even had a chance to play his first choice back 4 together yet ffs.

If you want to shout for his head then fire on. Don't expect me to join in though cause it ain't gonna be happening this season.

I do back Mowbray till the end of the season but John Reid is a joke.

I've never had a problem with him being chairman but where was the investment last January or in the close season or a decent centre half when everybody knows that was our biggest need.

If they had done their job correctly then we should have had a nucleus a players already in the squad that was good enough.

If there's no title this year there will be less season tickets next season with less investment from fans. With Rangers in such dire circumstance this is totally unacceptable and if Mowbray leaves at the end of the season the Reid should follow him.

Mistakes are made and thankfully in our case, lessons have been learned.

the foundations of something great are being laid with Mowbray, we haven't progressed in the last two years so something radical was needed and that is what we are getting, it doesnt happen overnight but I am confident that Mowbray will be a massively successful Celtic manager
