why did celtic get rid of mcdonald and not samaras, our top goal scorer is now gone and we are left with samaras who misses more than he scores i know we have keane now but only on short term.i think peter lawell thought he would cash in on mcdonald which in a buisness way is good but that just shows you hes not thinking about the 11 on the park.just want to hear what people think.personally i think its a bit odd.

Yip I do believe the sale of McDonald could come back to haunt us unless someone steps up and starts taking all the chances. They only reason I think they sold him for was to fund the keane deal. I havent worked it out but i dont think we have spent any money that we havent recouped.

But anyway * it We got.................... KEANE!!! :celt_2::celt_2:

Hand got it about right and who knows maybe Kamara can be that quality striker and we've yet see see Rasmussen properly.

mcdonald wouldnt have got a game, judging by his comments when he signed at boro he didn't really get on with TM, there is also the rumours that he was the dressing room leak, add that to around £3million profit on, lets be honest here, although he is a good finisher, he is a pretty average player. i think when you put that together it made sense to sell especially when his price was as high as it will get

I think the reason we sold McDonald was because of his attitude.

He was always moaning, and at a time when morale is low that's the last thing we needed.

Also, note that we sold him right at the same time we brought Keane in. Presumably TM intends to play Keano (light, smart, mobile) with one of our more bigger, stronger strikers. Which would have meant Skippy not getting a game, mibbe not even as a sub. That would just have created more trouble, in the squad and in the media.

And anyway that 3 million profit we made on him is right good business for the club. Is that some kind of a bad thing?

If Keane leaves again in the summer, I'm confident we'll go for a quality striker on a long-term contract.

He can trap a ball further than he can kick it.

    He is slow & fat.

He moans at everyone, about everything.

He thinks he's better than he is.

We got a £3millions profit on him.

He is a mole & no manager wants a mole in his dressing room, disrupting the harmony of the club.

Its all about bringing in better players and we've certainly done that. Our striking options at the start of the window were Samaras, Fortune, McDonald, Killen n McGowan. Now we have Keane, Kamara, Rasmussen, Fortune n Samaras.

Can't say I was ever a huge fan of him tbh. Can't realy argue with his goalscoring, but more often than not passing to him was as good as giving the ball away as he has the worst touch I think I've ever seen at Celtic Park.

He didn't have a great attitude and it looked like he wasn't really going to be getting a starting place. Strachan gave us nearly £4M for a guy who was going to warm the bench for the forseeable future and the board have taken it. Can't say I blame them.

because we needed money to fund other moves and no one would be interested in samaras because if you cast your mind way back when we signed him we were the only team interested in him and he was dieng for the move

he also missed a fair few sitters in his time that he got away with because he wasn't big sammy.

his first season he was great but after that not so much. the guy scored some great and important goals after that like milan, ibrox and man utd and i'm grateful to him for his contribution. but for the reasons stated above he was never going to fit into the style of football mowbray wants us playing and therefore it was a good bit of business for all three parties to get him moved on though i do fell 'boro have probably overpaid.
i do agree with you about boruc though. he's overweight and half the time his mind is * knows where, any other player in the team and the fans would be on his back for his performances the majority of the last two years but because he's "the holy goalie" its fine. on his game he's one of the best in europe but he's been nowhere near it for years. give zaluska a run in the team and maybe it'll give boruc the kick up the * he needs to sort himself out

we got £3.5mil thats why he left. Look at the strikeforce we've brought in, theres no way he would get many games from now til end of season and then his valuation would drop even more.

Wont Go as far as slating the guy but Good Business imo

perhaps they didnt get on that well he and mogga?
    or
skippy didnt fit into his way of playing
    or
the money was too good to turn out and mowbray wants to put it towards the other money to spend in the summer? either way i think the buisness done has been positive and therefore i am looking forward to tonight and the rest of the season even more now.

He wanted to join wee Strachan at Boro, unfortunately we couldn't persuade Strachan to buy Samaras too, however it might happen in the summer transfer window if Strachan's not been sacked by then.
