Our fans have eyes, they are not performing seals. The writing is on the wall and they are simply not going to waste their time kidding themselves on.

Perform on the park first and then we may start to believe.

Yesterday was poor. Usually, in the past, when we've went behind and been chasing the game the atmosphere would be good and crucial in the come back. On Saturday it was not like that, all you could hear were moans and groans. Obviously that isn't going to help the team much.

Fans obviously have the right to moan after the amount of money paid, but how about at least trying to support the team during the 90 mins on the pitch, even when things are extremely poor. If the team doesn't respond to that support with the same heart and soul that the fans show during the game then when the final whistle blows is the time to voice our concerns imo.

Booing is washing your dirt linen in public!
We should NOT be doing this no matter how sh*t we are!
Back the team through thick and thin and have our moans between us down the pub, on forums, at work- whatever but I have never booed a CELTIC PLAYER in my life and never will!

The Falkirk game was shocking. At one point Paddy McCourt had to run over to tell Naylor to keep his head up and keep going.I'm not a fan of Naylor but the way the fans were screaming at him I'm suprised he never just walked off the park.I believe fans should be able to express themselves but there's a certain way in doing it and at the Falkirk game that was just the wrong way.

This is just what I mean. I'm not a great fan of Lee Naylor's but the truth is he's not a world beater but he is a decent player with * all confidence and no wonder he's got * all confidence - the boy gets absolute pelters every time he plays!

The treatment of lee naylor was terrible, he dosen't want the ball anymore the people who are screaming at him are the ones we don't need.

How do they expect a player to get a good ball in the box if he is just waiting for the fans to give him an ear-bashing everytime he puts a foot wrong, he's so nervous it's hard to watch.

The exact same thing apply's for samaras, These two are the ones who are what can only be described as singled out by the SPECTATORS for abuse.

Look for that at the next home game.

Naylor and samaras aren't aloud a mistake, The rest are.

I don't think spectators would care enough to scream at faulting players.

Only thing is when was the last time the support really made an effort to create an atmosphere at league games - several years ago so we couldn't even create an atmosphere when we were winning.

It's against the law to have standing at the games nowadays.

Away days are better because usually everyone who travels are there to stand and sing and generally put the football second. At home games it's more of a family day out where people are there to sit and watch the game, which is fair enough.

Terracing needs to be brought back to football in order to improve the atmosphere, then you could have the choice to either sit in peace or jump around. I know it's deemed unsafe but i'm sure something could be looked at to have a safe terracing area.

I can tell you all that, as someone who was unfortunate enough to support another club in their younger days :54:, one of the things I used to fear the most about playing Celtic at Parkhead was the effect the crowd could have. I remember a few games where the scores were level, or Celtic were behind, going into the last 10 minutes of the match. At this point the Celtic fans seemed to realise the danger their team was in, got right behind the team and the noise level in the ground went up by about 500%. This increase in support and volume in the stadium had two very immediate and very obvious effects on what was happening on the pitch:

    1. The Celtic players responded to the support they were getting and started to pile the pressure on

    2. It completely intimidated the players on the other team

I used to sit by my radio hearing the noise levels coming out of the stands and I just knew something was going to happen. It was almost like you could feel the will of the Celtic support sucking the ball down into the opposition box and into the back of their net. More often than not that is exactly what happened! The ball ended up in the back of the opposition net and Celtic had scored yet another last minute equaliser/winner.

This is extremely heartbreaking when you're a follower of another team but I always knew when my team played Celtic that this was a possibility. If Celtic were losing 1-0 with 2 minutes to go I still never ever felt that they were beaten and was waiting for them to score. They rarely disappointed. The point I'm trying to make is though that it wasn't the Celtic players alone that made this phenomenon happen. The fans were a huge part of it too.

Nowadays when I look around Celtic Park and the team aren't winning all I see is apathy and all I hear is abuse being dished out to players. Something fundamental has changed within the Celtic support in the last 10 years. My personal opinion is that the stewarding within the stadium has become over zealous and there are too many of our fans now who have become spoiled by success. They moan if we win 5-0 because it's too easy but if we don't win they moan even more. What exactly is it these fans want??

So I have observed the Celtic support from both sides of the fence and I can definitively say that it is not what it used to be. We need to get back to how it was. The team needs our support at this moment and they need it badly. I just hope some of our fans will remember what it is to support Celtic and get behind the team in a very vocal way in the coming weeks and months.

    Mon the Hoops! :shamrock:

The money the players are on has nothing to do with it. If they are given abuse every time they make a mistake, it will not help their confidence.

i second that, good post mate!! :50:

if you dont mind my asking who was it you supported in your younger days? went to the Ayr United games when i was young :52: though mainly because it was just across the road! division 2 football was certainly an eye opener not to mention there was always great banter in the terraces at Somerset Park something which seems to have been lost at Celtic Park these days.

I wouldnt boo the team myself, but in all fairness whoeve does is well intitled to express there opinions, they pay they same money as me and you and if there not happy then its up to them to express that
