Can't judge at this stage. After all, Eddie Munster was the NEW Jinky, SiDo was the NEW Kenny and Fulton was the NEW Baggio.

I have been saying for months that we should have given Big Josh Thompson his chance, rather than let the Chuckle Brothers do any more damage.

I thought Josh added some authority and presence at the back,
and certainly looked better than Captain Calamity who was once again getting outjumped by midgets.

Competent debut in a difficult position for a young lad.

"Wonderkid" - Its a term thats thrown around far too easily these days. With such a lack of prospects in Scottish football, they press jump all over anything they can get. Thomson being English, it would hardly be appropriate to give him the back page to himself just yet.

The media went mental over Feruz and hes a Celtic player.

Some people on here can't finish a paragraph without bringing up bias. I find this "us against the world" attitude gets a boring when I see it in every thread.

Considering he's a kid going into a much-criticised defence alongside our 4th choice centre back who was having a mare, I don't think Thompson did too badly. Long way to go but he looks reliable enough.

Wonderkid is when you get a player starting games from an early age. Fleck and Wilson are wonderkids as they are walking into the Rangers team all be it as there is no-one else there. I've read reports these two idiots are believing the hype surronding them and that they've ko'd new deals at Rangers. All they have to do is look at our once wonderkid Laim Miller and believing the hype.

Back on topic, I woundn't hesitate in starting Thompson ahead of O'Dea and Mick but in saying that we can only hope our dutch defenders form a good partnership as we have tried everything else only to fail so far.:54:

He played well when he came on yesterday. Not sure what to think of him though, he's obviously a big guy and not the fastest but he looked a bit clumsy, always did the simple thing though instead of messing about which I liked.

too early to tell how he will work out, he does seem to be pretty slow for an 18 year old though.

He may be slow but made up for it with his ball winning in the air. That big guy falkirk had up front was winning everything in the air against o'dea and mick, but on came Thommo and totally dominated the big guy in the air.

Pace is something that can be worked on. May have been faster when he joined and has worked so much on trying to bulk up that he has lost his pace. But the fitness guys will work on it with him.

Solid game for me and I would like him to be eased into it and maybe be a steady back up

    Wait !!!!!!!!!!!!

Let's not get too carried away here !!!!!!!!!!!
Rafeal *, Tony Cascarino & Reggie Stinker looked good in their first game !!!!
Oh & this Josh lad was not all that good either to be talking about him.
And to that guy, who has that quote from our new dutch defender as his wallpaper, about how he picked the right team & all that , remember, he was rejected by Livingstone FC !!!!!!!

    So lets wait & watch.

    PS: Tony Mowbary.............GTF
PS again: Think that O'Dea (couldn't get a game for Reading) bubble has been burst, once in for all after that performance against the mighty Falkirk FC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Happy New Year All.:celt_2:

He done ok I thought his long balls forward were accurate which is better than McManus and he done well for an 18 year old especially against that big guy they had. Wouldn't start him in any games the now though.

Has that vibe of easy dominance that O'Dea has never had. JUst strolls around but is always in the right place. Looks a lot taller than O'Dea too. Only moment I wondered was when that Nigerian striker looked dangerously close to taking him for pace. Josh looked to have a shockingly slow change of pace and looked like he had lead boots on. Hopefuly a sprint coach can do for him what they did for Aidan a while back cause I really do not want a super slow CB. That said you get guys with telescopic legs who can get away with that. I thought Varga was a great player but he had no pace.
