Celtic are'nt the only team interested in him and yes he will be keeping his options open and rightly so ,some seem to think that Celtic have the divine right to get A player but like it or lump it other clubs smaller than Celtic can match or pay more in wages than Celtic ,i hope the lad signs but other factors come into play aswell.

I still think that he will sign. Not really sure of the ins and outs of yesterday but everything he said outside the stadium made me believe that he has fallen for the club. He stated he was very very impressed. I think it is just a case of ironing out the contract terms. As for the flight last night, I think that was to see his mum because she is ill. That does not mean that he cannot still fly up this morning or afternoon to sign and then get the weekend off and fly out with the squd on monday.

From what I read this morning Dave Jones is saying that the club never had any contact from Stoke so that would mean that talks never really started there.

Today could be the day for me. Come Joe. Make the right decision.

    Hail Hail

Cardiff boss Dave Jones has confirmed that they will ask FIFA to be compensated for the loss of Joe Ledley.
The midfielder has still to sign the offer to join Celtic but Cardiff are resigned to losing their Welsh internationalist.
A move to an English side would have required a transfer fee but Ledley’s likely decision to move outwith England opens up a grey area for the Welsh club.
Jones admitted: “We’ll try to get our compensation through the training rule, we’ll have to battle that out with Celtic
“There is training compensation when you cross a border, we’ll be arguing that out now.
“There are set figures with FIFA, we’ll have to take it and see what goes. We only get compensation for his training through the academy years, that’s how it works.
“But we never had an offer from any Premiership club so forget all that has been written, all of these two and three million bids. We never had that, we never got to the stage where we could negotiate with a club.
“Joe has been available for a long time. I’m disappointed that I’ve lost a very good player but if that’s what he decides I wish him all the best.”
Ledley returned to Cardiff without completing his move to Celtic with suggestions that he returned for family reasons.
Celtic will await anxiously to see if the player will sign up and join the club on their four match trip to North America on Monday.
Stoke City have been heavily linked with the player but Jones has admitted that Cardiff haven’t received any offers from English clubs.
The Cardiff boss added: “We were never made an offer from Stoke or from any other club for Joe. He has been a free since December and anyone could have contacted us to try and sort something out rather than go to a compensation ruling.
“I’m close friends with Tony (Stoke boss Pullis) but he never made an offer, he wanted a player swap and we weren’t prepared to do that- now Joe has decided that he wants to go to Celtic so all the best to him. We move on.
“We made Joe a fantastic offer to stay but he decided that he wanted to ply his trade elsewhere.
“It seems to be a done deal with Celtic although he hasn’t been in contact with us, he’s gone to the Premier but the wrong Premier.
“I’m a little bit surprised but sometimes you have to make your bed and lie in it and that’s what Joe has done.”

just wish we could seal a few deals and get a team together. i know it must be hard to sell the SPL to players but we need to get a settled team together quick for the CL and hit the ground running in the league

the compensation they are looking for is to cover Academy fee's and therefore would only be a nominal sum (perhaps £100,000 or so). They won't get it either as the rules clearly state Celtic have done nothing wrong.

Just give them Loovens and a friendly and i'm sure they'll be happy. (As would i if it means we get rid of that dud:50:)

Dunno if this has been posted but a thread of a Cardiff City forum about views on Ledley:

Cardiff City Online: Main Cardiff City Messageboard What will we miss about Ledley?

Probably quite biased because the O/P knew Ledley was leaving, but it's good to pick up what type of player it looks like we're signing.

One thing that seems to be clear is he's not a flashy midfielder. More Scott Brown than Aiden McGeady put it that way. Apparently very industrious, typical box to box type that gets goals from midfield. Has a decent right foot as well and excellent teamwork/positional sense.

Detractors though commented that he perhaps doesn't get *enough* goals, and doesn't stand out during matches although I suspect these kind of comments were fairly bitter.

One of the more sensible posts:

WalesOnline - FootballNation - Football News - Celtic will turn Ledley into winner, says Hartson

Did anyone read the comments made about us, again. Hartson said Celtic are up there in suport as Man U globally then some * said that Man city have more support than us. I'd like to know where these idiots get thier info. Yes, last season our attendance dropped but our support around the world hasn't changed. Who do the likes of Man city play in pre-season? Diidy teams from league 2?

Anyway, Ledley will end up signing jsut not today.

surely playing in the spl and playing maybe 10 european games between cl and europa league. Would be a better pull than just playing premier league games .

AFTER another two successful ‘question and answer’ roadshows in Ireland last weekend, Celtic’s ‘Meet the Fans’ events return to Scotland this Thursday and Friday evening.

    ^^

Which means that Peter Lawwell and Neil Lennon was in Fife last evening. 7pm if I don't remember wrong.

Maybe it's calculated that they know they wouldn't be in Glasgow last evening, and Joe Ledley could be running som errands - or how people say it over there.
