the truth is he is a good player. Maybe more so than N'guemo which makes me think his deal may not be made perm. A midfield of mcgeady crosas ki maloney would be strong enough to cope with maybe brown mcginn on the bench. That is strength in depth. Its been a long time since we had a strong bench and I think that was down to WGS buying lots of squad players that did not have the ability to push for a first team place

Cheers for clearing that up. I thought he was only on a 2 year deal, hence the thread. But if it's still another few years then there's no rush:50:

People are on Crosas' bandwagon because of who he is and where he came from.

If he was a young Scottish lad, he would be hounded down by everyone from what we've seen of him so far. The truth is, one or two good passes in a game isn't enough, he gets lost in this league against these players.

He has potential, he has glimpses, but on current play, he isn't good enough to wear the hoops.

He doesn't deserve a new contract, give him this and next season and see how he gets on. I hope he proves me wrong, because i'd love him to be a great celtic player, he has the professionalism and the class, but i just don't think he will cut it with us.

    And thats my opinion :shamrock:

You can't just dismiss it as people liking the fact that he's from Barcelona. Lyon were thinking about keeping him after his loan there. The fact is he got regular playing time at one of the best 16 clubs in Europe when he was 20-21. Has he regressed since then? No. If he's good enough for Lyon back then he's good enough for us now. His passing is superb and he forms one of the best tandems we've had in ages with N'Guemo.

He's a young Neil Lennon, but can pick a much better pass.

This guy will only get better with games. He cannot be a bit part player and expected to put in performance when coming on as a sub etc at this age. It's his first real run in ANY first team and he's starting to show why we took him on in the first place.

Mowbray obviously thinks he's got enough to play there as he would have dropped him and put Robson in CM if he wasn't sure.

I defo think he'll get better with games.

I wasn't stuck on him at all initially. He has since convinced me otherwise. N'Guemo compliments him perfectly.

I think it's a great balance we have in there. N'Guemo chases and harries, pus in the strong challenges etc where as Crosas seems better at being in the right place at the right time and using his brain to snuff out danger. He's also very quick at recycling the ball into either safer areas (i.e. the backwards pass) or more counter-attacking getting it up the flanks.

He can do more though, you get the impression he could work harder on his physique and engine but ever since this midfield has gelled not one team this season has steam-rolled us. Our bad results have come directly from defenders failings.

I see when Brown comes back him challenging N'Guemo (rather than Crosas) - he does seem to be a poor mans N'guemo or at least was in his appearances early this term. I think Ki will be challenging Crosas or maybe Ki will be deployed on the wing?

Crosas impresses me a great deal, I'm a big fan & it's got little to do with his background - although it has to be taken into account.

He is composed & reads the game very well, as someone said like Lenny before him.

His range of passing, intellegence & creativity are what gets me going though, especially when he's only 22.

He has great maturity & has now lived in Lyon & Glasgow, as well as Barcalona - for a 21 year old guy to do that & learn 2 new languages is a massive undertaking & I resepct him a great deal for that alone.

I hope he stays at Celtic for a long time, he's a guy I would build the team around & by that I'd also make him the Captain.

Lyon were thinking about keeping him, but they never did. Nor did Barcelona.

If he was good enough for Lyon back then, then he would still be there. In my eyes, there's no other reason why they wouldn't of got him on a permanent deal if they believed he was good enough..

crosas looks a good player but i don't think he is involved during the game as much as a quality central midfield player should be :38:

He has been playing well recently but does he deserve a new contract hopefully he gets more chances under Mowbray to show him what he can do because we've not seen the best of him yet IMO.

Crosas goes about his business quite quietly on the park. Just becuase he doesn't go surging into tackles late and run around like a headless chicken(typical SPL cm) doesn't mean he should be posted missing during a game.

I didn't think Crosas was fit to wear the hoops, but I have been watching him closely in recent games and have been very impressed. I can't remember one game in the SPL where Nguemo and Crosas have not ran the midfield. Nguemo does have a huge part to play in this becuase he's so good at getting possesion back, but equally so does Crosas, he retains possesion and very rarely loses it. To play the type of way Mowbray wants to play, we need midfielders who can hold onto the ball and I cant think of one player better to do so in the SPL than Crosas.

Like Tommy ^ said he didnt really impress when he arrived but i always thought that this guy had it but he had to express himself more and he has done in the past month ,he will be with Celtic i hope a long time because i believe he is just going to get better at he goes on ,what i would say though is for Crosas to play his passing game he needs a bit of protection to be able to get the best out of him .

Don’t agree with that at all, Brown and Maloney will in my opinion go back into the team when fit within the next few weeks! Mowbray rates them both very highly, how many games did he drop either of them since the start of the season bar having injuries? McGinn is more likely to be the bench player than Maloney simply because Maloney is better on the left hand side and McGinn clearly can't play on the left. McGeady is better on the right hand side and there is no way i would move him over to the left (where he is half as effective imo) to accomodate McGinn.

    <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />Spot on, i agree with you :50:

    From the 3 mentioned…

Who is our the best left sided player we have? Maloney for me

Who is the best right sided player we have? McGeady for me

Would you swap McGeady to the left to accommodate McGinn on the right? No Maloney is better on the left than McGeady is, McGeady has to play on the right hand side, he is half the player on the left as you said. I don’t think McGinn can play on the left, anytime he has came on as a sub he has always swapped positions with McGeady and played on the right.

Starting with McGeady on the right and Maloney on the left is a must for me. I would definitely prefer McGeady to be at his best which is on the right so no room for McGinn in my opinion. He might be an ideal replacement in a few years when McGeady inevitably leaves.

I personally don't think what side McGeady plays on matters that much. The only difference recently which has seen better performances from McGeady is a) his attitude and b) the team (minus the defence) gelling.

I honestly think he is twice the player on the right side as opposed to the left mate, his crosses just seem so much better. He pings them in with a bit of pace on the right hand side meaning they are harder to defend but when he's on the left hand side he tends to chip them in.

Totally disagree. He was far too prone to arsing about and trying to beat his man 3 times and then sklaffing his cross when he plays on the left. Even now he reverts a little that way when he is over there. He is far better on the right. That is unfortunate because we have several players like McGinn and McCourt who also can only really play comfortably on the right. In reality only Maloney looks natural on the left (despite being right footed). It seems to me that playing on the 'wrong' side for your foot favours the players like Naka, Maloney etc who are more about brains and spotting angles etc than tricks, pace and hitting the byline. It also makes most sense for players who have great shots like Naka and Maloney. Aidan is shocking at shooting cutting in from the left. Players whose game is all about speed and twinkle feet seem to lose something when switched to the wrong side for their foot.

Crosas has been ok. I am unconvinced that he has the metal for the spl though. Hes still very much within the "replaceable" category
