AIK sporting director Bjorn Wesstrom was in Glasgow to conclude the negotiations and has now returned to Sweden happy with the deal agreed.
“There is no need for me to be there any more,” he told the Daily Record. “The club know where we stand.”

Hooiveld's agent, Alex Kroes of Sports Entertainment Group, confirmed the final details of the transfer will be put in place today with Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell

'The papers have not been completed, but the deal is in place,' said Kroes. 'I was given permission by AIK to speak to Peter Lawwell about a contract for Jos and we will speak again on Monday to finalise things'.

    From the BBC

Celtic have completed the signing of Dutch defender Jos Hooiveld from AIK Stockholm for a fee of around £2m.
The centre-half, Sweden's player of the year in 2009, has signed a three-and-a-half year deal as manager Tony Mowbray seeks to reshape his defence.

The 26-year-old was part of the AIK team that recently won the double in Sweden and can also play in midfield.

Hooiveld has returned to Sweden and will be officially unveiled by Celtic later in the week.

The 6ft 3in defender tour the facilities at Celtic Park and the club's Lennoxtown training complex but it wasn't his first visit to Scotland.

While on trial at Livingston in 2005, he played a bounce game against St Johnstone but failed to impress.

Hooiveld only played at AIK for a season, and prior to that was at Inter Turku in Finland and Heerenveen in his native Netherlands.

His arrival makes the departure of Gary Caldwell all the more likely. Celtic have accepted a bid from Middlesbrough for the centre-half and midfielder Barry Robson, but the pair have yet to finalise the move.

The Championship side also want Chris Killen and Willo Flood on loan.

    Here we go!

    :bbpd:
I have feeling ( Sing to Black Eyed Peas!) This guy will sort out a few folk! Both in our team and in the oppostions!

I remember Mick MccCarthy's dedubt at Tannadice- not the best- he got pelters from a section of our fans (I was at the game think he scored an og or sold a goal ,I just can't remember right!)- the good fans knew we had got a decent player!

I would love another couple of players to come in. But no other talks have been confirmed apart from this one. The fact may be that this will be our only signing. We may not get a striker or another defender.

But lets wait and see. I know TM will have put a list to Peter and I hope he can deliver atleast 3 of them

Having recruited one defender, Celtic are also considering whether to make a new bid for the Preston centre-back Sean St Ledger after having an approach rejected by the Championship club last week.

The North End chairman, Derek Shaw, said of the Republic of Ireland international: "We accept Sean wants to play at a higher level and has his international career to think of, so the ball is in Celtic's court.

As much as I agree with what you're saying, I never heard much if anything at all about talks with this guy until he was practically signed. So let's just assume we're keeping a lot of prospect signings quiet until we're close enough for it to be reality.

Supposedly a £1.75m bid was knocked back as they expect at least double that.

I'd give them £3m for him.
