"....It’s understood Wojtowicz was impressed by Hinkel’s attacking form in the derby game but was unable to make a definite decision due to Rangers’ failure to to test him in a defensive sense."

He's worth more than £2.5m! In any case, this article is pish! Who would decide on a player on the basis of one game?

2.5 is decent enough i reckon!
he's an average defender but think caddis could turn out to be a great little player!

    Correct.

I wouldn't even sell him for double what they're apparently offering, you don't get International class attacking right backs with 10 assists in half a season for 2.5 million quid.

I feared this would happen though because he'll want to be in the World Cup squad and playing in his native country will help that cause :54:

arguement that we shouldnt let him go for £2.5m but we would NOT IN A MILLION YEARS get £4-£5m for him. We didn't even need to pay that for him and he was coming from Sevilla...not the spl!!

That's not how it works fortunately. We bought a guy that couldn't get a game, anyone else is now buying an in form German international.

Its exactly how it works. He is in form in the SPL. I can't remember the last time he played for Germany and he amdits himself he is unlikely to got to the world cup this year.

Not a chance we will get more than £3m imo

Really worried about this, Hinkel is one of our most consistent players and has the most assists in the SPL this season(?)(most assists at celtic anyway). Unfortunately he may want to go because we all know he's desperate to play for Germany at the world cup :54: German international - £5m please

Yeah hes a good player, i would rather he was a top class defender rather than assists though.

He is unlikely to go to WC. We wont get £5m for him

    Look.

We don't have to sell him, so why would we? Unless we've got a ready made replacement sitting waiting to step in, he's going nowhere. Not for that sort of money. We don't have a replacement, yet. Wilson isn't good enough and I think he'll go in Jan. Caddis seems to be getting pushed in to a RM position, which is fine. So at the moment, we don't have a replacement. If we still had Doumbe, I'd take the £2.5m. Not now though.

£2.5m? We'd never get the same quality. It's same reason we want top top dollar for McGeady, it's going to take atleast £10m to replace the likes of McGeady, even then I doubt you'd get anyone willing to come to the SPL in the same sort of class.

You won't get £5M for Hinkel IMO. And that is because of his age, and the fact that he is not so hot in defence.

There are plenty of good right backs about as well. Johnson, Sagna, Corluka, Richards, Bosingwa, Hutton, Alves, Ramos, Oddo Maicon or Lahm .

£.2.5 M is about right I feel.We could replace him easily.

those you mentioned, other than Corluka, Lahm, Oddo (age) and Hutton are all £20m+

Most right backs in the epl are as good as Hinkel.

If he was that good there would be clubs lining up to buy him. simples.
