Tis cool man, its an easy mistake, they basically have the same name apart from one is Lee & one is Ki, so easy mistake.. & both look pretty talented, so as I said if Bolton fail to stay up maybe Celtic should go for Lee Sung- Yong aswel :50:

Wouldn't expect too much, too soon from the lad. Seems to be given all the time in the world when on the ball in that league, which he won't get here.

Looks like he's got some great ball control, and from what I've seen so far his passing is class: Long balls right to the feet of the forwards, flick-ons, through balls, the works! Could be a fantastic signing, would be an interesting partner for N'Guemo.

Always sceptical about new bhoys making debuts in old firm matches (although ZZ did a lovely job this year. If we maintain our form of the past few weeks though I'd rather stick with the lineup that started against Motherwell on Saturday, maybe bringing on the Asians as impact players.

DAVID Ki's INTERVIEW WITH SPORTS SEOUL at 10th DEC

    http://www.sportsseoul.com/news2/soc...741784956.html

Bring some columns about Celtic from his interview

Q: What's your first impression for Tony Mowbray?
Ki: His first word was 'Welcome'. He asked me to do my best for accommodated with Scotland and do what he expected for me. I felt he respect players.

Q: Your departure for Celtic is little bit earlier than expectation. You would get a session at 21st Dec, Seoul and leave for Scotland at 23rd.
Ki: I want to go Celtic asap. Tony said that I can spend Christmas at Korea but I told him that I want to go there asap. Getting training earlier would be help and must finish my contract for house. I never imagined that there would be a session at Seoul, 21st Dec. It seems Celtic thinks many things about Korea. Later at that day, I invited to a dinner with British Ambassador.

Q: Have you went the Stadium?
Ki: Yeah, Good. It's much better than when I was play at Denmark, for International game.

Q: It would be great pressure to move Celtic at January. Getting in there midst of season and competition would be hard.
Ki: I had a chance to go there at last June but I have no regret. Accommodating is necessary stuff wherever and whenever you go. I want to step by step to be regular member rather than being a first team from the first. I would show all the thing that I have. I'm not sure that Tony would make a change in his team cause the season is progressed so far. I understand it's so hard to get a change when you in tough competition for the summit of the league. If I want to be a regular first team member then I must overcome any problems that would occur. Now I'm exhausted in physical and psychological. (Cause K-League Season is over at 30th Nov)

Q: You are compared with Chung-Yong(Bolton). He moved to the Premiership directly. Your final destination is Big Leagues, isn't it?
Ki : I think Celtic is big club enough. I must do my best at here. The way of life is differ for each person. There's no reason to go along with him.

    Q: What's your objective in 2010?
Ki: Of course, make Celtic as Scottish Champions and win the Asian Game. (Then he can avoid the military duty) Participating in WC 2010, itself would be good experience.

Q: You were studying at Australia. Is it great help?
Ki: I went there at 14. I spent 4 years at there. I have no problem with talk with Celtic players. (Oh dhear you must learn the Glaswegian Accent, mate)

And he has spent time in Australia as well, so he alreasdy has something of a grasp on the english-speaking culture... but the issue will not be the language barrier, rather the glesga accents, lol.

Seriously though, dont get your expectations too high too soon, Give him some time to find his feet first. Look at the expectations that Espanyol had for Naka, and we know what he was capable of, yet has really struggled since his move to Spain.

Other then seeing Yueng play a few world cup qualifiers for South Korea I really haven't seen much of him but he does seem to have already quite the reputation so hopefully he can come in and have a big impact for us. Could be an interesting x factor against the huns on January 3.

    Thanks for posting the interview.

He seems to be very grounded & profesional - I like that about the Asian players, Naka was & is an absolute role model for all our children & young people, if Ki has the same attitude I'm very happy.

Interesting wee point about his military conscription duties, seems he can avoid the draft if he gains International caps..? The fact he got his work permit without issue, seems he should also avoid the draft.

it doesn't matter how many int cap you've got.
here's wee story about that from my KDS forum thread

Republic of Korea is on peace treaty with DPRK. Cause of such violent situation, every Korean man who graduates middle school they must go to the Army(or Navy, Air Force, Police) for 2 years. (It would be discounted for 1 1/2 year)

Even myself finished that duty. In the case of Sung-yong, he would be an free loan to Gwangju Sangmu(Military Team) for 2 years.

Nobody would welcome such duty so he want to avoid that by Gold medal at the Asian games. If you get a gold medal from one of the highest level international games like Olympics, Asian Games then your military duty is only for 4 weeks basic military skill training.

There's exception. Korean National Team in WC 2002 who reached semi-final was offered that kind of stuff from president and public so they had done only 4 weeks.

    Today.. Seoul, Korea.

    Today's Interview

Q: How do you feel to be a Celtic Player?

I'm very proud that be a part of Celtic. There's responsibility cause I'm representive of Korean football at there. Hope to be a good player who let people know about how good the Korean football is.

Q: Is there any fitness pressure after you finished a full K-League season?

Since K-League is over, I have a rest so lack of fitness now. I know how to fit myself to the game. With Celtic staffs, I can make it so I would do my best to be match-fit.

Q: the Rangers game on 3rd Jan could be your debut game.

Whether I'm on the pitch or not is on Tony Mowbray's decision. Not sure cause I'm not full-fitness now but it would be impressed if I play that game. I play my 100% if I could be on the pitch at that day.

Q: What's your desire on European stage?

Having no European experience at all, I have no huge desire. There's plenty of time ahead. It's important to show my best at Celtic for now. Step by step, accumulating experience and growing is important.

Q: How many goals you want to score at Celtic?

I have no idea about that yet. Just want to play as many game as I can. Moreover, my position(central midfield) is not for scoring goals so I want help other players to score goals. If I have chance then score 5-6 goals a year.

Q: It was great year for you. What's your objective from now on?

It was great in 2009. Proceeding to Worldcup 2010 is good for not only me but all the Korean Internationals. Individually, it's good to be in Europe. There's some time left but have a lot to do in World Cup. I want help Celtic and Korea without any injuries.

Q: Recently Lee Chung-Yong at Bolton have done a great job. Was it boost you?

He and I had spent so long time since we were young so I'm very proud of him and his performance. Otherwise I think we could grab this chance cause Park in Man United and Young-pyo who was at Spurs done good job at there. He(CY Lee)'s way and mine is different. Hope that me and he do the best in Scotland and England would give a plent of pleasure to football fans. Now CY's doing good performance over there so I think it's a turn for me.

Q: Why do you choose No.18?

I have no special meaning for that number. While available numbers it was the least number so I chose it.

    Q: Who's your role model?

Park Ji Sung in Man United. He's the Korean football explorer in Europe. I respect him.

Q: How can you treat a loneliness in Glasgow?

Having aboard experience at Austrailia, I think I have no problem with Scottish food and language. I know it would be hard to used to, but I'm very easy person for that so expect 2 weeks are enough to be accustommed to. Have no big worry for that.

Q: There's a story that you want to be called 'David Ki'?

That name came from my Austrailian days. I'm Christian so named after the David in bible. Told to the Celtic players that if pronuncing my Korean name is hard for them then they can call me as that English name. Communication is so important so I would ask them once again for name that easy-to-call then I would decide.
