I was born in Scotland so i would support the tartan army :icon_mrgreen:. If Ireland were playing anyone else in the world then i would support them but Scotland for me :86:.

    Obviously. :rolleyes::icon_mrgreen:

I don't think see it as a matter of honour to support the football team of the country where you happened to be born, any more than I see it as a matter of honour to go and kill Iraqis because the government of that country tells you to. What's the quote - "Patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel" ?

Personally I was born in Scotland, and I support Scotland - but if anyone else who was born in Scotland chooses instead to support bleedin Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, I have no problem with their decision. It's a free country, no?

I think it was post's like this that the original poll starter was looking for as a basis for creating the poll. Not meant as a go at the poll starter! As for me, Scotland all the way

I'd still support Scotland in that situation.

    Scotland every time.

    Being Scottish, 100% Scotland.

I am of Irish descent and therefore always like to see the Irish do well, but would never support them over my country.

I think theirs always been a pretty good relationship between the 2 countries, politics apart.

Not much point in anyone from Ireland voting really (As there'd be no reason they'd support Scotland over Ireland)......should be essentially Scottish people and who they support, sort of gives an unfair percentage.

Defo Scotland for me, want to see the Irish team do well but I don't lose sleep when they lose.

Not having a gho or anything but things are entirley differenet now.

If everyone at celtic had that attitude then we would have half the fanbase we do now because of the the mark walters incident

Scotland for me anyway - like seeing ireland do well but im not really bothered

think this poll would make more sense if only scots voted as its clearly trying to find scots who would support ireland over scotland.
i'd support scotland without a shadow of a doubt. i'll look out for the irish results in much the same way as i will the welsh though in saying that one of my mates is irish so if its not on at the same time as a scotland game i'll tend to watch it with him and hope they do well. can't say i cheer when they score or overly care when they lose though but i'd rather see them win than lose.
love going to hampden for a big scotland game, the atmosphere is brilliant, good banter and an excuse to wear the kilt! the game we beat holland in the play-offs a few years ago was one of the best days i've had, just a shame we got pumped 6 nil in the second leg

I wouldn't be neutral, I'd like Ireland to win more simply because they play with more heart and confidence, while Scotland is in real mess right now and I doubt they would do much against the Irish.

    Eh?

I just think the way Scotland is playing now and looking at their players overall, they wouldn't stand much chances against Ireland. If would've you asked me about this 6 months ago or even more, I'd say the same thing. If you're implying about Ireland's recent success and Scotland's recent failure, then you must think I have really short memory and limited views.
