Jimmy Johnstone’s Tribute To Jinky CD has been re-released TODAY with a new track and it looks like it could be in the running for next weekend’s coveted No.1 spot….

ALL of the proceeds from the sale of the single will go towards raising money and awareness of the condition Motor Neurone Disease, and it is expected to become a bestselling record because of Celtic’s worldwide support.

Jinky, voted Celtic’s Greatest Ever Player, sadly passed away on Monday, March 13 following a five-year battle with MND and it was one of the Wee Man’s last wishes that sales of the CD should go to this worthy cause.

Each charity CD single sale will raise £2 towards the Jimmy Johnstone Motor Neurone Disease tribute fund, which helps sufferers of the disease.

The double A-side features Johnstone in a duet with Simple Minds' Jim Kerr, covering the Ewan MacColl classic, Dirty Old Town.

The Simple Minds recorded the song with Jinky during the filming of 'Lord of the Wing', the biographical film documentary about Jinky’s life.

The second track on the CD, entitled Lord of the Wing, is performed by John McLaughlin, and the third track, entitled Commemoration (Jinky's Farewell), was written by Laura McGhee in honour of Jimmy, after the news of his passing.

Fans have been asked to circulate the news about the single and how to go about ordering Jinky's charity single.

Virgin & HMV plan to stock in Scotland, some northern cities. If there is no stock in your area you need to quote catalogue number LWSP7.

HMV have already made it possible to pre-order the title on-line.

Thousands of advance orders have flooded in already and the single will be up against some top-selling competition in the shape of Michael Jackson’s re-released
The Way You Make Me Feel and Girls Aloud's Whole Lotta History.

HMV spokesman Gennaro Castaldo said: "It's a certainty this track will hit the top 10 but with the right amount of exposure it could go all the way."

It is also set to be released as a download to help satisfy the worldwide demand of ex-pat Celtic fans.

All the details of the re-release can be found on Jinky's official web site, please visit www.jimmyjohnstone.com for more details where you can also order from HMV on-line.

So get out there now and get Jinky where he belongs – at the top of the charts.

children, children, we have descended into a bit of an argument over this here!! Why?? I have to admit I have bought a couple of copies of the single. I don't intend to buy anymore but if someone wants to buy ten copis then good on them I say. It's more money for the charity. :50:

there is no arguement here i am just asking whats the point when you can buy one and then give the rest to wee jimmy charity .

whats the point in having say 5 singles of the same choice in your house .

I would not give to anyone either because then they are not putting into the charity .

    No arguments here :50:

    I agree.
If everyone went out & bought ten, I'm sure there'd be a few fans who'd miss out & wouldn't be too happy!
This cd is in high demand anyway so, there's no need to be greedy!

If you want to slag someone for buying charity cd's and helping JJ climb the charts then you can, but don't personally insult people on this forum.
