PORTSMOUTH'S John Utaka is being lined up for a loan move to Celtic.

Pompey are set to let striker Utaka, 29, leave in January - with a view to a permanent switch.
Utaka cost the south coast club £7million back in 2007 but the ex-Rennes ace has failed to live up to his star billing at Fratton Park.

Utaka will be feeling loanly | The Sun |Sport|Football

No thanks. He hasn't done very well with Portsmouth. He hasn't exactly banged them in for the NT either.

Haha, u guys make me laugh. Would be a quality loan signing for the run in to the end of the season. Type of fast, strong player we need as our lack of strikers is showing. Doesnt score many but I reckon the SPL is perfect for him to show off his talent.

If he comes in January and is total pish...then u can all kick 7 shades of * outta me...every one of u haha. Im confident.

think he would only be good with a target man, as he is very fast to get in behind defences but the problem is we dont have a target man so i wouldnt go for him

Think this guy could do a job for us, he's very quick and strong!! Loan deal would be ideal!

He's probably on over 20k each week & we won't be paying that, so a no goer anyway I suspect.

I would take him on loan although I'm sure he's more of a winger than a centre forward.

Some people on here don't have a clue...I would take him in a flash. He is so fast it's unreal, he would tear centre halves in the SPL a new *. Granted he may not be the most prolific striker in the world but I think with his pace and strength he has the ability to be more prolific in a much lower standard league such as the SPL. Also we don't have the pulling power or the money to get "prolific" strikers some people on here think we can get. At the end of the day its' only a loan deal so if it doesn't work out then fine, but if it does it could help us to win the league and then we might have the possibility to sign him. Also by winning the league we could get automatic qualification to the Champions League and a * load of money which would help to build the squad that the manager needs to play his style of football.

would rather we signed the french guy girurd as he is younger and has an eye for goal even though it is the french 2nd division i feel he would b a lot hungrier and have more to prove and at 6"4 could be a good target man! :icon_mrgreen:

I'd loan him for six months for sure, there isnt a single defender in the SPL that has the pace to match that lad. If he turns out to be rubbish, give em back.
