Sorry to hear that Scott will be out for two months, however I can't help but think back to the final Scotland game against Holland, the Scottish coaches should have not selected him as he was certainly carrying an injury. Since that match his form has been terrible, yes some people might say he didn't merit his position in the starting eleven, but I think he needed to still prove himself to the Celtic support.

Let's hope he has a successful operation and returns at exactly the right time to lead Celtic to the championship !!!

If it takes another 2, 3 or 6 months to get his ankle sorted then that's what it takes.

I think that fairly mediocre performances from him in his first season, coupled with the the fact that way we caught up and overtook the huns without him in the team for the last 7 games, coloured a lot of peoples opinion of him. Mine's too.

Decent (ok good) performance from him in the next season where (I think) Gary Caldwell was nominated proves there was a real dearth of outstanding players that year. I personally though he done OK but still not what I expected of him.

And this year he's been a car crash. Ankle injury or not. If they step out onto the pitch in our beloved jersey, they are due for praise/criticism like the rest of them. If he's not playing well due to injury, he is punishing the team. That's just fact, not opinion.

Sorry Markybhoy, your defence of him is very salient and credible. I can only comment on what I see on front of me. And me no like too much. :celt_2:

Simply put, he has to come back from injury, hit form and prove to us all that he can fulfill what we thought he could always be. If not, his time here has come.

oh well, looks like we are stuck with him till the end of the season, hopefully he gets the rest and recouperation he needs and comes back revitalised and wins over his doubters including me:celt_2:.

I was hoping something would come of this 7m bid personally.

The bad thing about this is that he is unlikely to be the subject of any bids in January due to this injury. Don't rate the guy.

Quite the opposite mate. We were all hoping we'd be able to punt him to Spurs in January. :icon_mrgreen:

Looks like we'll have to wait till the summer...

Just because he doesn't run around like a madman and go crashing into tackles doesn't mean he isn't committed.

    Agreed

    * typical, one of our hardest working, young midfielders out for two months! Just when we needed him back in that team to harass the opposition. I don't think he's had a great season, by any stretch of the imagination, but the reason 'fans' are alway on broony's case is because he cost 4.5mil. If Robbo, Crosas or N'guemo cost the club that much, they'd all be standing outside celtic park on a saturday with * pitch forks! We need him in that team, no matter how * we all think he is..

Why did he continue to play if his ankle was hampering his performances so badly? Why are there nothing but excuses for the fact he is a poor footballer?

As has already been said, the biggest thing for me is we now won't be able to sell him in January and recoup some dosh to buy a box-to-box midfielder that provides something in an attacking sense.

maybe if he get this persistant injury sorted once and for all? and comes back 100%? then perhaps we will see a better player and the player we hope he was when we bought him! after all you dont spend 4,4m on a young player if he doesnt have something to give? do you?:43:

How long do we have to wait?

His first season he started well but then disappeared.

Last year he was no more than marginally better for me, people keep harping on about his POTY award but how many times has he delivered in a BIG game?

He got MOTM in the CIS cup final which I didn't think he deserved on the day to be honest (thought it was Aiden for the record) but the majority of old firm games he's anonymous and on the Euro stage he is shown up for what he is .. a slightly above average midfielder.

This season he's been quite simply .. dreadful.

The guy has basic flaws in his game that won't just disappear with time.

All I see is a headless chicken that charges about like a nutter, hitting the ball too far ahead of him and clattering into challenges.

He is better getting this sorted, maybe coming back 100% fit we will maybe see the real Scott Brown. If not time to go.

some real;ly ridicolous anti broony stuff here. The way people are trying to play down the injury is so unfair it just shows people do not even want to be logical about him. Mowbray was saying something is wrong with broony in the press several times while he was still playing him. So, he is 100% to blame. Again to even try and use this seasons form as any judge of Broony is simply retarded or shows a real dislike for the guy. He had family issues in his first season and he has been a total crock this season. So you can only judge him on last season and he was POTY FFS. People now go on about Caldwell and Broony but if you remember the polls here these two were voted the top men by some distance. There is no doubt in my mind that a fit Broony in the right mental state is our best and most valuable CM by a huge distance. Broony may not have been playing well but we have been tragic since he stopped playing.

Exactly, its not on. IIRC, they did the same with Ferry (he had a * bone broken in his foot) which resulted in a very brief return followed by another season out.

    Finger out please.

hope he get back (and healthy for sure) as soon as possible. I like Robbo, but would prefer the Broon on the pitch.

Mowbray is not 100% to blame, the medical staff and Brown himself need to take some of that blame.

Last season McManus was pilloried for playing while unfit and rightly so, it's no different for Brown.

Mowbray should have dropped him as soon as it became obvious how bad his injury was restricting him but Brown should have been honest enough to say he wasn't fit enough to play.

    Pish :38:

Your constant blind defence of the guy is every bit as stupid as accusing others of just 'not liking him' if you ask me.

I see nothing different this season from the guy than I've seen since he came, its just that people are now finally starting to see him for what he is .. a fraud .. complete pig in a poke.

How many excuses are you gonna make for the guy Gunt?

Personal problems, the longest injury of all time, the greenhouse effect .. anything else?

When any other player is in poor form he rightly gets pummelled on here (give us a wave Marco :bbpd:), yet when this guy repeatedly plays * and gets rightfully slaughtered, people have some kind of ulterior motive?

He cant pass, doesn't beat defenders, doesn't create chances and doesn't score goals, most of his tackles end in a foul and he usually looks dis-interested until an opposition player * him off.

Thats not dislike of an individual, its FACT.

The guy is no better than slightly above average.
