Wanderers boss Gary Megson is preparing a £7 million bid for Celtic midfielder Scott Brown.

The Daily Mirror reports that the Bolton boss is willing to join the expected bidding war for Brown along with Tottenham, Everton and Stoke when the transfer window opens again in January.

Brown, 24, is wanted at the Reebok as a replacement for Sean Davis who could miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.

The midfielder could go in January as part of manager Tony Mowbray's overhaul at Parkhead.

If this is the case, and bolton really do want him mobray could be on to a winner here, megson has had a bust up with matt taylor and is to be sold during the transfer window. He was bought for 3.5m, a similar bid would take him to parkhead. I would take him in a shot, plus if the prices are getting quoted are not too far off the mark you are looking at another 3.5m on top of a swap deal. Taylor gives you everything a good box to box midfielder should, dig, drive, he scores goals from anywhere and can make things happen. He can play on the left or in the middle, and also started his career at left back, and has filled in there on many occasions and never looked out of place.
No doubt if mobray gets the call, this is an option he will consider.

Brown is gone, one way or another and I'm happy to see him off. He has done nothing but regress this year and I would much rather play Crosas and N'Guemo, not to mention the young Korean International coming in January.

Hope that a wee bidding war ensues.

Spurs & Everton want him too & 8-9 million is not really big bucks for a quality CM'er.

Brown has EVERYTHING required to succeed in the game, I can see why managers like him, he just needs consistancy.

Like McGeady, I think he'd thrive away from the goldfish bowl.

If this is true 7m is good money to get for Brown so I would be interested. However when he is fully fit he is an important player who I think can develop into a real quality midfielder. So I would only sell if we know we can get in a quality replacement.

Selling in January is a problem as well. Can you get in a really top quality center mid if we sell Brown in January? That would be difficult. I don't think selling Brown in January is a good idea unless a real quality replacement can be brought in.

Id give brown 5 games once he has regained full fitness to try and show he has it. If not then punt him. But I think he can be the player he was last season, and if thats the case then we should defo not sell him
