    Am shocked, Robert Enke was always a keeper i thought alot of and was happy to see him as German number 1 in recent months. RIP Robert Enke * bless your family

    He was an all time great goalkeeper since the first day i saw him play i thought he was destined for greatness.

    What a shame it ended like this.

    His doctor said that Enke has been treated for depression since 2003, I'm guessing losing a child made his condition that much worse. And on top of that he kept his condition a secret from public, as to not lose another child, the adopted one. In the end I guess it was all too much to take.

    He left a suicide note behind, which would also explain why his agent was so certain that it was in fact a suicide yesterday. The content had obviously not been disclosed, but I think it was his wife that said during the press conference that in it he apologised to everyone for misleading them in the last few days while he was preparing for suicide.

    Yep, the german news interviews with his wife tend to suggest that his depression was intensified after the 2006 loss of his kid, and that his suicide was manily over concerns his condition would 'come out' and then the adopted child would be taken away.

    RIP Enke, a great loss to German football.
