Tennants is absolute rubbish... in fact nearly all Scottish lager is rubbish... sorry, guys, but its true. American beer isn't all that good either, but for different reasons.

There are a couple worth checking out...

Pabst Blue Ribbon (Blue Velvet, anyone? lol)
Rolling Rock (probably the pick of the bunch)

Canada has much better beers, Kokanee, Moosehead etc !!!

The only reasons MGD & Bud are popular is that there are so many crap beers there, that if you get a bud, at least you know what you are in for.

Someone mentioned Sam Adams before, I enjoy it. Smithwicks as well.
Just avoid Corona at all costs and you will be good to go.

Is it? Alright then, you're probably right in all honesty but I'm sure Scotland has a decent name for things like ale's and export ie real beer.

Am I right? I remember most of my english mates who come up here complimenting the beer compared to theirs.

C'mon, give Scotland it's due, surely as the world's biggest drinkers of the products (10 pints mandatory a day for each citizen regardless of age or *) we deserve a mention!! :50::icon_mrgreen::shamrock:

The beers I drink most often (discounting the cheap binge-drinking session drinks like Natty light, bush light, keystone, etc.) are Newcastle, Dos Equis, and Coors.

Also, if you're going to a big city it should have a World Market. You'll be able to find anything from Scotland you want in one of their stores.

Note, I did use the word 'lager'. I'll concede there are some decent ales, and tend to be my pint of choice here, however in fairness, ale sales account for a much smaller percentage of the beer market in other parts of the world, including Canada, USA & Australia, than they do here.

BTW... I did forget to mention Sam Adams... :50:... but 'Rolling Rock' still mine of choice, when stateside.

It's very popular throughout the north. Except with me - not a fan.

Someone mentioned Amstel earlier, great beer, but quite pricey.
When I was in Oz I tried pretty much everything, some were good, and some weren't. But the winner was this:

Love the world market, buy all my coffee from there.

As for Scottish beer, the only one I've had is Belhaven, believe it was an ale. It was pretty good from what I remember

    I prefer the following:

    Guinness
    Smithwicks
    Heineken/Amstel Light
    Sam Adams
    Beamish
    Dos Equis
    Newcastle
    Red Stripe
    Warsteiner (anything German really)
    Insert anything Belgian here
    Czechvar/Budvar (expensive, so only occasionally)

I'll drink some of the cheaper stuff every once in a while, but don't like budweiser, coors, and miller all that much.

A little late on this one.

In Texas it is pretty much all about one beer:
