Cant disagree with this ,he does have faults but tell me who doesnt but what you get with Sammy is 100% wether he is having a good day or a bad one.

I don't think people should put so much emphasis on the fact that Samaras tries when he plays. Surely the least we should expect from ANY player who pulls on the Hoops is that they will try their best??

Samaras needs to stop spending so much time out on the wings and in areas where he cannot hurt opposing defences. He needs to get his * up front and into a central area where he will be more likely to find the net for us.

    No.

I believe he's the most naturally talented (and the fastest) players at the club.

He's still a young player (over a year younger than McGeady) and will only improve.

With al due respect that's easy to say Marky and is the stock answer when players get this type of praise.

Of course we expect all players to try hard but lately I've seen Skippy not putting half of the energy that Samara does into a game. Or Killen. Or Brown for that matter if the games not going right or whatever.

Samaras puts in a shift come hail (hail), rain or shine. It's THAT effort, coupled with some genuine talent, which differentiates him from some others in the team.

Maloney? Hasn't kicked a ball this season. Is it because he's not trying? Nope. he just can't seen to get involved in a game for love nor money.

Sammy never hides, even if he's having a percieved bad game he's still always showing himself for the next pass.

I think he's an extremely brave and mentally strong player because of this. Let's be clear on this though; I think he's got to step up his game and add consistency otherwise he could fall the other way, lose form and be shipped out at some time.

I just hope he fulfils what he can be at Celtic and think we are the right club for him. :shamrock:

I agree, headless chicken syndrome should not get brownie points

Hartson didnt get around much in his last season here, but give him the ball, 1/2 yard of space and he'd get you 3 points. It was a sacrifice we could live with!

Miller ran around alot, managers may like it because they know what they'll get minimum but strikers are measured by the goals they score. Splitting defenders and closing down is expected of fit young strikers

I find it slightly ironic that you use 'headless chicken' and 'Brownie' in the same phrase :icon_mrgreen:

    Before Skippy?

    Absolutely.

Given Skippys 20 goal+ first season and previous exploits against the huns, Man U, Milan, Spartak Moscow and Dinamo Moscow, I think we can afford him a wee rough patch eh?

Killen can share a taxi with Samaras.

Last season Ross i would have agreed with you regarding McDonald but this season he for whatever reason isnt the same player ,personally i think Samaras is more mobile than him and more interested ,there is something not right about McDonald this season but i do hope that he does return to the player we know he can be.:50:

Our biggest threat up front currently i would say!
His finishing will improve with games and i beleive when his confidence becomes high he could potentially be very good for Celtic!

Whenever Samaras plays i always think what if those chances fell to someone else upfront ? I would love to see him out of the squad for 3 matches just to see if someone else would score those easy chances. He always stops a good flow of attacking football by falling at the slightest touch or trying to take someone on or showing that awful one touch and ball control.

A week ago i'd have said yes. I was sick of his theatrics when a chance is missed or he just fails to get on a through ball, rolling around with dramatic expression rubbing his hair while others burst a gut to get back.

Ive seen enough in the last 2 games to suggest that he can make things happen, against killie he seemed to create space from nowhere and had those runs where he shows his pace.

He just needs a bit of work, support and confidence, I remember last year when he was on fire and got injured before old trafford I was gutted.

Keep Sammi and let his develop, I think we'd regret selling him tbh once we seen him in full flow for another team.

The big man has swayed my opinion with his performances I say No to selling him.

His inconsistencies are there for all to see,but surely most can see that theres a good player hiding there somewhere.Bit of maturity might just see the best in the lad.I think we should allow him one more season to prove his worth.

No, Sammy's a good player. All we need is another striker who's willing to put the same effort as him into the game.

lol what a stupid time for such a thread considering Samaras is on a rich vein of form. If anyone looks off-form in our team it is skippy.
