    McLeish's final season has been disappointing in a domestic sense, a fact the manager attributes partly to the club's involvement in the Champions League.
    "We've got to strive to build a squad to withstand every challenge. That has got to be the goal for a club like Rangers," he added.
    "If we hadn't done as well in Europe, I have no doubts that we would be further up the league.
    "We would certainly be closer to Celtic, if not above them, and still involved in the cup."

    a couple of draws surely cant be an acceptable excuse for a disaster season, i mean when we reached the uefa cup final we played much more games on the road to seville, i might add we were chasing rangers untill the last day and only lost the league by 1 goal i dont recall us being 21 points behind them in march

    this statement makes eck look ever more stupid than he is and shows you he knows he has a pish squad that cant cope with europe and their domestic league at the same time

    Mcleish is a ginger minger, they should have gave him the money instead of getting a new manager that why we might have been futher up in the league And qualifie for the last 8 of the champions league.
    its unfair big eck is gettin the sack because he wasnt giving 19 million for new players like the new manger [SIZE=-1]Paul Le Guen[/SIZE], its the first scottish manager for a socttish team to qualifie for the first 16 of the champions league, then maybe we might have been in the last 8 instead of the 16:55:

    The problem I have with the McLeish excuse is that from November to March they had no European matches so it has little credibilty.
