Saw this on bbc sport rumours, apparently taken from the express but cant find anything on the page! Anyone know anything?

The Celtic Trust will call for the removal of majority shareholder Dermot Desmond and chairman John Reid as this week's annual meeting because of a "lowering of ambition"

I would be very surprised if there was any substance in this.

Has got to be BS IMO

I think that the removal of Desmond would be a huge loss for the club...

It would be dangerous to get rid of dermot desmond, we need someone of that wealth running us, it gives us that extra bit of stability, rangers would die for sum1 like that at there helm right now, but i do agree he should start putting his own cash into the club, like murray, ashley and many more! And i also agree that little disgusing creature that calls himself our chairman should also go, what does he bring to our club?

Exactly what do the Celtic Trust do, they don't seem to represent me or many other Celtic fans I know so what's the point of them?

As for this story, I would doubt the validity of it completely, just a way of filling column inches imo.

    From the Celtic Trust website:
I have to say I share their desire to see John Reid as far away from Celtic Park as possible, but the timing of this is pretty much a giftwrapped present for Rangers.

And as for getting rid of Desmond? Hmmm... :97:

I don't see their point to be honest, if they are asking fans to use their votes to support the trust and oppose the board then they should explain all of their reasoning.

Their website is blocked in at my work so I'll take a look later to see if they offer any more of an explanation.

This is a good story mate and not a deflection at all. The Celtic Trust is going to table a motion to get rid of the Chair and biggest Shareholder!!! That is a story and if I worked on a paper i would run with it.

wether this is even remotely possible is insignificant, the fact is that an organised body of Celtic shareholders want these two out. Thats NEWS! I wasn't going to go on Friday, but i think i may just pop along now.

    Bollox!

The Celtic Trust certainly won't be doing this on behalf of me.

John Reid to me has done nothing wrong and would bet this is purely political.

I can't stand factions like the Celtic Trust

    They don't Danni.

And considering the AGM is in three days time, and most of us will have sent in our voting forms weeks ago, it all seems a bit halfbaked. :87:

thanks, saves me looking when I get home this evening :icon_mrgreen:

    Just a tad halfbaked alright.

I can understand politically why they would want rid of Reid, not that I agree or disagree with their stance, but why DD - that one is really weird?

I don't read it as political myelf - the BBC snippet quotes them criticising a "lowering of ambition".

I see it as just the old Let's spend big and pure bury Rangers in January!

Opposing the remuneration and Reid & DD's re-election is likely just them stamping their feet to get attention...
