Thought the much begged for dropping of Brown didnt exactly work out well with Z invisible. Again the biggest problem is that we dont have decent strikers. Sammy is a reasonable footballer but he is always wide and deep. He looks like he would only do well as one of the wide forwards in a 4-3-3. We need a guy with real goal scoring instincts who is always sniffing about in the box. I really think JVOH would have played a lot of games this season and scored more than Sammy, Killin etc put together even if he is a slow barsteward. Letting go a physical, aerial threat and prolific goalscoring international striker and not replacing him with something similar is one of the main reasons we are suffering at the moment.

You could also say Naka was sold with no similar quality replacing him although that is kind of unavoidable when you stumble on a world class player for peanutes. You are never going to replace him. We really do miss Naka though. OK we have a better LB but that is the only improvement that is not disputable at present and doesnt balance the loss of JVOH and Naka. To date we are a poorer squad on paper than before Mowbray came and the end product is poor too.

think robbo and zz were a bit of the pace but would like to see them get a wee run in the team as they both need games to get match fit.but again we looked very disjointed when the subs came on seems to be a worrying trend

Just glad we got the 3 points to day. We can start building on this and take the good bits about to day into our home game on the 28th v the wee team from embra.
But its clear for all to see we need 2 decent strikers, a big target mhan and someone who can play off him. Celtic dont have enough players who can run into spaces and create anything. No diaginol runs of poeple dropping off etc. A Larsson type of player, He doesnt need to be as good as the great mhan, but we need a guy who can move around all over the front of the pitch. That would create things for other forwards aswell as link the midfield, wingers to the strikers.:celt_2:

I thought we played well in the first half in very difificult and blustery conditions which were not conducive to playing sublime football on the ground. Hinkel was solid throughout and provided one of the goals and sent some telling balls into the box. I thought Robson was an inspiration in midfield, and even did well when he fell back to replace the injured McManus at CB.

I am absolutely delirious to be back at the top of the league where we belong
Well done Mhogga and the Bhoys.

As the song says ' And its getting better, growing stronger ' :veryhappy:

    My ratings

Zaluska - 8 - Boruc must be worried, what a stop at the end!

Hinkel - 8 - Glad to see him back. Bombed forward, solid at the back

Caldwell - 7 - Ive slaughtered him recently so credit when its due. Solid but for one dodgy moment near the end.

McManus - 6 - Much better today from the captain but i would still prefer to see Loovens there

Naylor - 6 - Mixed bag of good forward play and crap passes. Almost sold the jerseys in the first half then didnt work hard enough to get back and atone for it

McGeady - 7 - Quiet to begin with but roasted the full back countless times in the 2nd half

Robson - 8 - Exactly the kind of player we needed today and stuck the boot in when needed

ZZ - 5 - Largely a passenger but its early days, give him time

Maloney - 6 - Brilliant goal but kept pretty quiet other than that

Samaras - 4 - Pretty hopeles if truth be told. Just too weak in every area of his game for me. At least Killen would give presence.

McDonald - 6 - Well taken goal but kept in check beyond that most of the game

Todays game wae one of the most borin games i'll probs watch all season, atleast we got the 3 points bu other than that there was no stand out performer.

I also think its terrible how a team like Accies were lucky not to get a point from those last 10 minutes.

Not happy with todays performance but i suppose it was all about the 3 points!

came very close to a 2-2 draw there but for a * of a save at the death. Nine times out of ten that would have hit the net. So, I was not impressed. Our big problem remains that we do not have a quality striker or two. THe CB problem is there in bigger games although not today. The other problem area is not having a settled CM. That is a big problem. I think that weakness down the spine will likely make us struggle against the top half of the SPL and could cost us the next OF game too. I think we are in for a rough ride although Rangers are really struggling too so the timing is good.

A poor performance overall but two fairly decent goals. 3 points and top of the league and I'm happy.
