After tonight's result with Rangers at Castle Grey Skull against Urine, is the current Celtic squad that bad?!!

Surely we can take heart from the fact that Rangers are 10 times worse than us. If we can cut out the mistakes at the back and stick the ball in the pokey we will romp the League.:celt_2:
wish i had your optimism. We are utter gash and I get little comfort from the fact that the same applies to the sons of satan. If anything it makes it more frustrating that they fud rashes won anything last year and currently sit above us in the league.Need to get our finger out and not just in the scoring department
Agreed m8, Its been an incredibly frustrating start to the season. I still believe that Mowbray is tinkering with his squad and hasn't yet identified his best 11 tho. He would have had a good idea before joining but due to some key injuries and players having a terrible dip in form, he has never had a settled team. We looked good in our first 2/3 games, then it went * up!

Consider the new additions and players coming back from injury. I know Fortune did'nt look like the class act we all wished for, but we seriously miss his running up front. He shuts down defenders, puts them under pressure which is hard to defend against. Skippy and Samaras offer nothing in this area. Having Robson back is a major plus point, he will add some much needed dig in the midfield. Zheng Zhi again looks strong and was really impressed with him in the Old Firm game. Danny Fox and Hinkel due back. Even Ki Song-Yong in Jan. It's not as doom and gloom as we are making out, it's only October for FFS. There will be more guaranteed twists n turns to come. Rangers 4-1 drubbing last nite proved how muck they are and that theres is no way Rangers will run away with the league!

I think Mowbray will get us back to form. It seems to be an abundance of individual errors that's going wrong. It's very tough on Mowbray to blame him for a lack of concentration in his players. The 2 players Mowbray thought he could rely upon were his player of the years in Brown and Caldwell. I really like Brown, but he has been terrible this season! He needs to be dropped and fight for his place to get back on form. And to have Caldwell make a horror start to the season along with McManus and Loovens has seriously * us.

If Mowbray can get everyone fit and the defence settled, then i think we will win the league at a canter... Unfortunately i think the Europa League is gone.:54:

i think we should all give TM time to stamp his own mark on the team give him as he says the 2 transfer windows to get a few players in and then we can judge him we do need to get rid of some players i would ship out naylor, caldwell ,crosas ,brown, samaras, the crosas one is hard i think he is a good player but does not suit the scottish game , and does anyone know if Mark Viduka has a club yet . would sign him short term if he was available.

All very well shipping out all these players, but will Mowbray get the funds to replace them?

Thats a good point, that we do not know but i hope the board backs him to get his own players in and then we can judge him i really don't think he rates a lot of the players at the club at the moment.

the table doesnt tell the whole story, rangers have yet to play hibs and dundee united the big contenders for 3rd place this year and they will play them over the next 2 league games, you get a better view of the state of league when we have played each team. christmas will be the cruical point this year rangers have us and hibs, away and host dundee united within the space of a fortnight, that is where they will drop points.

No, all we need is a decent striker who can score goals. The amount of shots we had against Motherwell we should have put at least one away. I know our defence is poor but we can score more goals than other teams in the SPL so if we had players who could score goals things wouldn't look as bad.

Agree 100%. I don't really want to slate Gordon Strachan but towards the end of his reign we were not creating chances and there was no link between midfield and the strikers. Thats a massive worry for any team! Mowbrays team on the other hand, may not be playing very well at the moment, but at least they are creating a barrel load of chances. Every striker goes through a barren spell when they can't score for love nor money. It doesn't help that every one of our strikers are going through this spell at the same time. As soon as we get a striker on form and banging the goals in we'll be flying...!

I'm looking forward to Fortune coming back at the weekend. I hope the team takes a turn in form and we all realise just how much of a contribution he really makes tothe team.:shamrock:

P.S. that bear wey the spinning banger is seriously disturbing!:icon_sad:

Viduka returned to Australia & signed for Melbourne...

Not that I'd want him anywhere near Celtic ever again. In fact, Melbourne is about as close to Celtic Park as I'd like him to be - on the other side of the planet.

In short no we are not that bad. We have a better team then the huns. Having said all that we are a pale shadow of the team in the O'Neill days. The team has slipped further and further backwards in terms of quality each year since 2003 due to the boards refusal and or inability to invest in quality proven players.

Agreed mate. A bit more investment after Seville, would have seen us reach the latter stages of Europe year in year out.

However, don't think it helped that the club got no financial return from any of our top players. Henrik, Sutton, Hartson, Lennon, Thompson, Agathe, Bobo, Mjallby and Valgaeren all were fantastic servents to the club but they all left for virtually nothing.

Don't get me wrong i'm glad they all stayed, but when you consider we could have got 15m+ for Larsson alone then you realise why we have no funds.

I think we have to accept that we are a selling club. We should be getting talent in early, coaching them to become established players and then selling them on for a pretty penny. That's what Ajax, PSV, Feyenoord, Porto, Benfica and Sporting all do. (All clubs from countries with limited TV money) There is no shame in that. When you consider we sold Petrov and Viduka for 6.5m, we were all sad to see them go, but it was good business.:shamrock:

P.S. to do this tho, the club needs to stop dragging it's knuckles and get our best players on good contracts so we don't leave us for * all.
