My mum and dad are getting married at Celtic Park in July and the registrar wont allow the fields of athenry to be played at the ceremony. We were all going to wear celtic tops with kilts for the wedding but dont know if the registrar will allow that. Does anybody know if thats allowed or not, as the registrar isnt open till monday.
    Cheerz

I remember hearing that Pamela Anderson got married but there was one restriction on guests and participants in the ceremony - they all had to be naked! So, wearing Celtic tops pales in comparison.

if people can get married under water ,jumping out of aircraft,in the aisles of shopping centres ,then your mum and dad can get married where ever wearing what ever listening to whatever they decide , and if it is only a registrars personal objection i would go to one that wants the day to be your mum and dads day,the way they want it to be good luck in your quest .:Leinster: :shamrock: :Leinster:

In a Civil service it is prohibited to have songs with religious content. For some reason this is the law of the land.

I see no where in the fields of Athenrye that has reference to religion.

    Tell them to stick it.

By religious content do you mean songs that offend other religions or religion at all, i.e. a song about Jesus?

The Fields of Athenry is certainly not a religious song just like Simply the Best is also not a religious song. It is disappointing to see people trying to break the sectarian barriers then people such as this enforce silly rules that slam home that these barriers do exist.

Apparently any religious content. Someone was recently banned from having Martine McCutcheon "Perfect Moment" as it mentions Heaven.
