Yeah, the atmosphere at home is always great for Rapid. I just meant that if we were playing in a group of nobodies, we wouldn't be playing at Ernst Happel and the atmosphere wouldn't be as electric as it was against Hamburg and Villa. It's as if when we play big clubs like that we want to show them what we are capable of as a team and as fans.

It would be pretty sweet if both teams ended up going through on December 17... that would be a * of a party! And I think it would go a long way to erasing the memory of 84...

    qft.

i always like when fans from other clubs are impressed by our support, but it has to be put into perspective a little.

usually, Rapid Fans don´t travel in europe more than 2 or 3 times in the qualifying phase...so we are constantly starving for european games. and if the day comes and then it´s clubs like Villa, HSV and Celtic rather than Metalist Kharkiv, Vllaznia Shkoder or whatever Azerbaijan brings in to europe, it´s not too hard to get an enthusiastic crowd.
alright, the Block West always delivers high quality support, but finally in a half full stadium it would be...well, half impressive.

considering our domestic championship, it really improved there as well.

but still, for our home games in the Bundesliga whe have our 17.500 capacity stadium - and it won´t sell out through the season.

so we are bragging on a quite different level here.

for the Uk support: i think it will be very hard to change anything, simply because it works for the big clubs the way it is. at least english clubs are the richest of the world, becasue they turned into big merchandising factories selling their product "football" and think of how to develop the "asian market". don´t know if it´s really that much the same with the big Glasgow clubs though.

I read an interview with Andy Marek yesterday in which he addressed exactly this. He said Rapid has to sell football as an "experience", because the team isn't owned by an oligarch who can say to the fans "sit down, be quiet, and in exchange I'll give you Drogba." Thank *! I'd rather have (internationally) mediocre players and an electric atmosphere than watch the world's best players in a morgue.

Haha... Glasgow was the worst Home-support I've ever seen all over Europe!
And that in a country which claims to be some kind of "home of football"!

If Rapid is behind, it becomes even louder in the stadium to force them forward!
Nobody would leave the stadium before game was finished!
If Rapid even plays a 1:1 at home, the whole stadium is partying with them!
If there ever seems to be an away-support which seems to be loud... we sing them out of the stadium!!!

And at least: If i write in the Internet for weeks now that the Rapid-* will get a bad beaten in the city and around the stadium... then I can't come with 10 little boys (claiming to be the Celtic-firm) and ask for a 10 vs. 10!!! hahaha
It can't be our job to hunt you through your whole city!

Men , I'm really really disappointed by your "support"!
Teams in the 2nd and 3rd European leagues have more in common with support and hooligans then you!
And reasons like "the EL" and "the new stadium" and "the police" are just rubbish!

SHAME ON YOU, CELTIC, SHAME ON YOU!!!!!

I hope, you all got what will expect you when you come to vienna!

By the way, I love the fashion of your girls all running around with high heels!!! haha
Hope that comes in Austria too soon...

I watched this match on TV in Poland. I heared ONLY Rapid fans. I'm a Polish Ultras(not a hooligan:biggrin1:) and I don't understand why I cannot hear when a lot of ( I don't wanna say all, because I understand old people and children cannot sing) people who all the time sing for their club. I wanna study in Glasgow and I think I will go to Celtic matches. And I wanna ask you, about something. If I sing all the time, will people think I'm stupied?

most of our fans didn't turn up to see your dodgy wee teams so . why do you think we would care enough to create an atmosphere .

your going by 1 game come back to a CL game and we'll give you an atmosphere .

i tell you somthing i can't wait to see this so-called amazing atmosphere for myself

Really needless post here in this forum - in my opinion as Rapidfan.
As valuable as Austria-Wien-posts in the Rapidforum :87:
    --
For me it was interesting to read, that even flags, transparents, microphones & so on are forbidden in UK ..Unbelievable, and that in the 'motherland of football'

I can´t agree, that the awaysupport MUST be better than the homesupport - Vienna had shown (Aston Villa, HSV) and will show (Celtic) the opposite.

Maybe a silly question, but on Thursday we could not recognize where the fanblocks are located in the Celticpark - Is there a special place (maybe where the big, faked 'Rapid'-Emblem was located) or are building of fanblocks not allowed?

Hear hear ... a new dawn in green-white relations? :86:

Would be great if the past could finally be left behind. As my Rapid fellows already mentioned Celtic enjoy lots of sympathy among Austrian green-whites. Pity you lost today, I was keeping my fingers crossed for you as well. :54:

Well we didn't play Villa at Happel. Happel may be a * football stadium but when it's absolutely packed with Rapid fans it's as good as Hanappi. Nothing worse like a half-empty Happel though.

    Certainly my favourite outcome, too.

Reading through some old threads that were posted before my time on here and I must say, this one stuck out like a sore thumb. It's amazing how much things have changed in just over two years, with the whole aura surrounding this great club.

This thread is a prime example of just how much Lenny and the current crop of Bhoys have rejuvenated Celtic Football Club and made Paradise a much better place to be.

You'd never hear any set of away supporters outsinging us inside Celtic Park now :50:

I remember going to this game and the atmosphere was awful. Changed times.
