His crossing is better when on the right in my opinion.

Eh? He's been excellent in the SPL this season, particularly the last few games on the right.

Last nights problem was firstly he was double-marked, and secondly in the second half his lack of match practice shone through and he looked tired.

When they double mark like that I wouldn't mind swapping McGeady and Maloney for 20 minutes to see how the defence copes.

McGeady's good on the right in my opinion and has been our best player this season. The reason for Maloney being on the left and McGeady on the right is to suit Mowbray's system with the wide men cutting inside to have a shot.

Don't agree with this at all, this is something that frustrates me about McGeady! IMO he tries to take the men on whether it's 1, 2 or 3 players he has on him! He never puts his head up to look for a player in space! I think it's the opposite way around here and McGeady doen't make use of the space that is created from teams doubling up on him!

Nope Maloney is right footed and he is far better at shooting than McGeady in general so he's better on the left cutting in for a shot on his right foot!

He's our best player whether he's on the left or right! Either way he does a job each week, and with him being double marked last nite, someone shoud have stepped up to the plate and grabbed the game by the neck!

I have to completely disagree, no one seemed to be making a decent run, especially from the centre of midfield, which I feel scott brown should be doing far more often, and that is something we miss in the midfield especially since petrov left. If you watch the game back you will see the occassions were Aidan had to play the ball back to the defence or even try and go it himself as his options provided by his teammates were very poor as they did not utilise the space he had created very much at all. I also think Hinkel was a big miss as wilson clearly wasnt anywhere near match fit, and even looks as though he has lost a yard of pace.

I actually partly agree with both of you.

McGeady doesn't look up often enough to pick out the right pass and it is very frustrating at times.

The lack of off the ball movement from our players is also at times extremely frustrating.

Both aspects need to be improved imo.

If McGeady could learn to lift his head and pick the right pass out then i think we would create much more chances! I think at times we need to move the ball about a bit quicker because we don't always make the most of good situations and are prone to passing either sideways or backwords at times! Don't know if any either of you were at the game last night and seen the off the ball movement? I thought Maloney's movement was fantastic last night, he made a good few runs that only a Naka type player would have picked out! To be fair tho, McGeady picked him out with a great ball for that one the he his the post with! I like Maloney and McGeady coming in a bit more central, they are far more dangerous there!

I didn't make it over for the game last night Mairilouise but I wasn't specifically refering to last nights game.

I agree that McGeady needs to lift his head more often and pick out the right pass, I just think we could also improve our off the ball movement greatly, the amount of times even at throw ins and free kicks our players look more like statues that footballers are annoying.

But yes, it is frustrating when the run is made and the pass isn't picked out that's why I think both aspects can be improved.

Ye agree totally, it's sometimes embarassin the amount of time it can take us at a throw in due to a lack of movement, can somtimes take 10-15 seconds!

McGeady was pish but he's such a hot and cold player anyway...

Maloney is a very good player IMO... he's got neat feet and can whip in a decent cross from either foot...

McGeady needs to simplify his play IMO but thats just from my perspective... perhaps Mowbray likes the way he plays?? If I were coach I would tell him to get more balls into the box and not focus so much on trying to repeatedly beat his man... then again thats just IMO

    * sake, a half fit aiden gets lobbed in to a euro game and a thread like this appears.

The guy is our only creative outlet 90% of the time, give him a break.

Should we not be concentrating on the ineffectiveness of our super duper 12 million rated central midfielder that Spurs, Portsmouth, Real Madrid and
The Moon All Stars are apparently preparing a bid for, despite the fact he's * hopeless?

    Agree 100%

Brown done nothing against rapid yet seems to be immune against criticism. If the old excuse comes up again that he is injured, then * rest him and let his injury clear. :31:
