He'd be mad not to take it. The money involved and prestige is second to none in world football. He'd be able to be practically part time and have plenty of time for his family. No matter how we may feel towards the England job it's regarded as huge throughout the world.

being england manager would definitely increase his profile. but i hope he doesnt get it. if he would become england manager then they could win the world cup! and i hope it never happens for we would never hear the end of it from the brits!

    Would it increase his profile?

Some one on TV (Can't remember who) made a fair point, the English job has the pressure of the media and their supporters, they are way to high on expectations, always believing they can win every single Word Cup, when reality kicks in, the blame never goes to the football players but to the manager itself.

We all know that Martin O'Neill is a brilliant manager, but in my opinion Sven is good too, if Martin O'Neill accepts, he will be pushing the "Self Destruction" Button.

For his own good, I would encourage him not to do so, but if he wants to sell himself and be a traitor to the Celtic Faithful, then so be it!

Either way, we will never forget Sevilla and all he done for us!! :celt_2: :shamrock:

IMO Martin O'Neill should not accept the job. He has managed Celtic...it would be like becoming the new manager of the Huns.....it's just not done.

Well, I'm not sure if it's good idea. Of course he is great manager and it would be fantastic to see him again as a Celtic manager who wins but... we must remeber that sometimes coming backs are difficult because of expectations. I hope he will manage that if he ever come back to Celtic.

I think the people who are saying he will reture to Celtic are forgetting the fact we already have a manager doing well at Celtic.
Wouldn't surprise me if MON - if he got offered - took the England job. If his wife's health has improved then he'll want to get back into the game. If he gets offered then I'd like to see him taking the job and proving himself to all the doubters in England who said he couldn't handle it and show them up.

I * hope not, the team they would become would just be too hard to bear, they might actually win stuff.

As an Irishman I hope he realises it's not the job for him, and focuses on his family, infinitely better cause.

If he was offered it I think he would take it. MON is a fantastic guy with an unbigotted, open mind and I think the job would appeal to him. The only other job I can see him taking is a Man Utd/Arsenal type job i.e. a top Premiesrhip side. I personally don't mind what the nationality or background of anyone in any role in any one of my teams is as long as they are good enough. As an Engalnd fan the thought of Allerdyce, McClaren, Curbishley or Bruce fills me with horror.

He'd never manage Scotland unless something crazy happened to the gene pool and there were suddenly a few players who could actually kick a ball. Same for Ireland - he's not going to manage a team of no hopers who can't qualify for major championships.
