Celtic Park Atmosphere

Sadly for me money means I can't go to see the celtic that often this year but the last couple of seasons ive been a season ticket holder and I wanna ask what the atmospheres been like this season at celtic park, as for me last season I thought it was verging on the worst ive ever seen people that leave on 65 minutes didnt help but * me i thought we where the best supporters in the land, please, tell me it's been decent so far?

 

Hard to tell really only a couple of games in .

you have to remember mate we are stuck in a diddy league watching us for the most part struggle against diddy teams and being charged premiership prices to see it .


alot of the fans who go to enjoy the games and sing nowadays are priced out and it's the more placid fans who have the money to buy season tickets that go . lets face it you aint gonna get owt out of them .

 

Aye thats true mate i went Celtic v Caley midweek game 07/08 season it finished 2-1 went with my mate who wasn't a season ticket holder cost him £25 * shocking to sit and watch what was a dire match in the freezing cold.

You still get pockets that sing at the smaller games that seemed to be about it in the last couple of seasons.

 

Its been no bad at the start of games but it just dies down after that.


Anyone seen portsmouth fans recently? They have lost 6 games in a row,paid all that money to watch all there best players leave. Still jumping aboot.singing like mad enjoying therse

 

Celtic Parks famous atmosphere is a thing of the past mate. Been to 2 games so far at home this season and have seen no improvement from last season. Still mostly spectators, still mass exodus before the games even finished and still many empty seats. Very few fans still take the 12th man role on, most prefer to criticize rather than support. The way it is from now on I suspect which is very, very saddening.

 

I think that the atmosphere is better at away games and European nights now. Even the singing section has went quiet at times.
My Da used to run a bus to all Celtic games when I was a bhoy and he would lift me over the turnstiles and into the Jungle. Great atmosphere back then. We need to recreate that and starting with the PA system playing YNWA at ALL home matches to get the crowd going and we'll take it from there. Hail Hail!!

I * hate it when they think they need to prompt us at to what to sing and when. Best ever YNWA's have been aff our own backs.

I agree that the best YNWA's have been started by the fans and always will be. However we don't sing enough at matches imho. I was in the Jock Stein (upper) Stand with my son recently and he and i were bursting to sing but no-one around us seemed to be interested??? I don't get it. We saw all the fans in the singing section and wished we were over there. It doesn't seem to be carrying through to the rest of the fans though. Next game we go to I will be buying tickets for the singing section. Which block should we ask for (North Stand, upper West T-1-5? or where?) Cheers and thanks in advance. Hail Hail!!

 

Best aff just heading round to 445 if your on the top tier mate and 111 if your on the bottom tier to get a singsong. Really the only two places where you'll get some backing inside Celtic Park.

 

Cheers bro, my son and I will be going intae that section from now on. He's 15 and the wee guy is bursting to sing his wee green heart oot as am i. Let the people sing...Hail Hail!!

 

I'm almost bored when i get to games these days. When i went to games i want to be singing & chanting right though to 90mins.

but...

Celtic park hasn't been the same since MON Left. Its just gone down hill and peoples mentality seems to be coping these forums with all the negitive thoughts..

 

Aye yeez will love it in amongst all the maddy's in these sections mate.

Same here mate i'd love to be singing and chanting for 90mins win, lose or draw.

I remember me and my two mates went to a match last season (cannae mind what one) we went to the turnstiles before hand bunch of guys from ireland where in as well the place was * rocking man drinking and singing fantastic we drunk the rest of a bottle of pepsi and vodka walking up to the ground stil lsinging with these irish guys walked into the ground got to our seats place was a * morgue saving two or three sections of the ground most disappointed ive ever been. Some fans where looking at us when we tried to start some singing like we where * insane. Some of them have a * attitude.

 

sadly this is what it is like these days mate.

i had a season ticket from the age of 10 right through till i was 17 (season we made the uefa cup final). games back then used to be bouncing from start to finish regardless of the opposition. if we scored you were cuddling everyone around you, giving it big licks.

i was at the dundee united game a couple of weeks back, sadly only my 3rd game since the good old days and the atmosphere was * cack. a few fans right up the back were trying to get a sing song going and no one around them looked interested. i sang along with them regardless and the folk around about me were looking at me as if id just killed a baby in front of them. its shocking to tell you the truth, to many fans treat going to parkhead the same way as they'd treat watching it on the tele.

 

That's exactly when it should spur us on to support the team even more.

At the hearts game on Sunday myself and a mate that was sitting a couple of seats away from me started singing the Celtic song (now admittedly neither of us can sing) but not one other person joined in and a few people even looked behind to see who the two eejits were that were singing.

I don't care though, I go to support the team and to me that means being vocal in a positive manner.

 

Peeople try to mark this down as some sort of sea change which is down to a kind of new age, prawn sandwich munching, new breed of Celtic fan and that it "pure wisnae like that when ah used 2 go to the games."

Another halcyon throwback to the good old days, and another chance rto remind us how pish it all is now, and that everyone is now a "customer."

The truth?

Ok.

It. Is. Quieter. Because:

- It is seated.

Please don't ask me to explain that further. It should be fairly self explanatory and absolutely logical.

Plus, if you want to sing, there even designated areas to do so. Or sing ion your seat for 90 minutes if you wish to do so. Plenty of people like a wee sing song where I am. not once has anyone told them to shut up or throw them bad looks. In fact, some people even join in!

like it or lump it mate their are some fans these days who look down their nose at the ones wanting to sing. i saw it for my own eyes against dundee united.

the guy i had went along with actually said to me after the game "i felt bad because you were trying to get joined in with the songs and people around you were looking at you like you were mad". i continued to sing regardless but some people arent as brass necked as me and henceforth are un-willing to sing

i completely agree with you the removal of terraces was the death of atmosphere at football but we've still had plenty of rowdy days since the seats were introduced.

 

Modern Football itself has taken over Celtic Park and the so called amazing atmosphere is gone. It's been left to groups around Celtic Park to bring it back and hopefully one day Celtic Park will be what it once was.

 

Fair enough, but this is a phenomenon I've yet to see in attending matches for over 30 years. My section ain't the loudest but I've never once seen anybody treat anyone singing, on there own or in a group, in ALL that time with anything remotely apprroaching disdain.

The thought of anyone telling a football fan to be quiet or to throw them looks is laughable in the extreme. I know what I believe and I'll be sure to let you know if that changes.

Again, the fault of the quieter atmosphere is the seating, not some massive attitude shift of supporters to justify the people who think they are uber-supporters all of a sudden in a sea of mute's.
