was falling asleep (no reflection on the game) when I watched it on Saturday night and only really had a good watch of it today. I watched McGinn closely and contrary what I posted yesterday he does have something about him more than just pace. Pace is his main weapon but he can adjust his feet quick and spot a pass. He is very direct. He was one of our better players although I thought the real man of the match was Maloney.

The good news is he can play just as well on either wing. When he played on the left wing for Derry he seemed to have more attempts on goal when he cut inside.

Going by Saturdays performance I don't see why Mizuno should be considered better backup. Take away the pace? That's like saying take away a forwards ability to strike! McGinn was superb yet Mizuno was anonymous...

*edit* just seen your other post so forget what I said about the pace part, but Mizuno should not be considered ahead of McGinn now IMO

You have got to be joking!! Maloney has been one of our best players this season!! Has scored a couple of goals from midfield, set a good few up, constantly running at defenders at PACE (which Mcgeady doesnt do) and the bit i have been most impressed about so far this season is his back tracking, he has really helped Fox out alot!

Let's face it, the big games this season have been the Arsenal games but how many Celtic players did show up in these games?? Maloney done well in both Moscow games!

Maloney probably just about deserved the MOTM on Saturday but id like to see him being more selfish! There were a few times he could maybe have had a go himself and decided to pass! He has a better shot than McGeady and McDonald from outside the box and you never see those 2 holding back in having a shot!

Maloney had a good game but I'd still have McGinn and then Fox ahead of him. Also following the Naylor thread from last week, I'd like to highlight more evidence that Fox has been demonstrating having a great left-foot in both open play and from set-pieces. Unlike Naylor his crosses regularly hit the inside of the box. Really miffed by some of the comments in that thread suggesting Fox isn't that great a crosser.

I personally think Fox's crossing is up and down, sometimes he puts a great ball in and other times he floats it to the back post when ther is no one there! Think he has got the potential to become a great player for us but we will need to look back at the end of the season to see how he has done! He has had a good start to his Celtic career but im actually going to admit that Naylor was my favourite player in his first season :52:

I would think twice about holdng a bovril if I was sitting behind the goal Aidan was shooting at:56: However, shooting is something that can be improved. Aidan looks like tends to use too much of the inside of his boot and always tries to put too much curl on it. Puttng your foot through it with the top of your foot is underated IMO

I think if you want to play McGinn then its Aidan you should be looking at. That would be much more like for like. Maloney is more of a wide playmaker while those two are wingers.

Got to agree with you about Fox though. He has a very accurate cross. The only time his crosses were poorer was v Arsenal when he had to cross from too deep. Naylor only had that ability in his first season when he was on fire.

It was time he got a game and he done well, I would have him ahead of Mizuno and McCourt as first choice back-up to the wide players.
