Lyon, Marsielle, PSG, Monaco, Nancy, St. Etinne, and Bordeaux.
Ederson, Bakari Kone, Sakho, Berenguer, Sanogo, and Wendel.

France has the talent for a club like Celtc.

I'm not saying we have the money to buy all these players but If we sell the likes of Caldwell, McManus, Naylor, and Sammy, we could get 3 or 4 talented players from French clubs and they could make an impact into our new attacking side.

Ederson would be great in the center of midfield with Brown or N'Guemo.

Kone is a much better striker than skippy and sammy.

Sakho is 19 and already in the first team and has captained the side many times, would be great along side Loovens.

Sanogo having just signed with As Saint-Etienne, came from Werder Breman and having had a loan spell with German millionaires Hoffenheim has a great future at 26.

Wendel is a a great winger and a great goalscorer, he would def make a great playmaker and winger.

    We need cash though.
let me know what you think

Yea, do you realise that French clubs are capable of offering better wage packets than us?

Unless your good at convincing someone to take a wage cut and like cold & rain, they wont even call back

Even to look for young stars over europe to come in on long-term loan deals would be good. But even that is a struggle coz no1 wants to play here. Shame really coz ther are some good players out ther not getting a 1st team game for the top clubs.

Fortune took a * of a persuading to come here over Hull. I'd imagine it was simply the TM experience that swayed him. In N'Guemos case I'd imagine it was because he was completey unrated by anyone. Bit of a rabbit out the hat there... In general though we will struggle to get anyone from France who are reasonably highly rated..

A striker that doesnt score and a loan of a midfielder that cant make the grade at Nancy.

I've a fair idea of which type of players would be considering to come to Celtic, they wont be any Benzema's Essiens or Juninho's waiting to happen

    * sake Dempsey, lay off the guy and our players! That midfielder that couldn't make the grade at Nancy has been a stand out for us this season and the striker has 2 spl goals to his name already. Such negativity.

The guy is trying to raise an interesting point and there will be plenty looking at responses like that thinking they'll not bother in future if they're just going to be shot down in flames.

I can see what Dempsey's point is.
There's nothing like a dose of reality to win a debate and the reality, like Dempsey said, is wages and that damp, cold and miserable place called the SPL.
If the truth upsets some people then they need to grow another layer of skin.

Well in that case il get to work growing my skin as I still cant stand the negativity shown towards our players and the way some posters are made to look like idiots for trying to raise a point on TC.

I think likewise as Henke and Dempsey say, there are leagues that can offer so much more than the SPL, before even taking into account the quality of football and weather.

I doubt France is a likely source for us now. Eastern Europe would be better but the Germans and Italians plunder the best from there regularly, leaving what for us?

Not the best pickings. Reality can be sobering, but it IS the truth. We're not a sexy big juicy fit burd of a league for a hormonal young talent to hjve wet dreams or fiddle with himself over. Sorry.

Its not being negative, its being realistic and boo * hoo if you dont like it. I'm entitled to my opinion too so deal with it.

Fortune has 2 goals for Celtic, now tell me how many games has he played where he hasnt scored?

Do you remember Larsson's first few games for us. Not comparing Fortune with the King but you would be well served to withold such opinions until he has had a chance to adjust to SPL football and show what he can do.

Are we taking into account preseason here as well Dempsey? Hardly the place to judge a player. Hasn't Killen got about 5 thus far then. * me he must be excellent.

Obviously we are at the wrong end of the transfer food-chain and the Benzemas and Juninho's of this world will not be joining us. As far as i can see though, you are the only one who has mentioned players of that calibre so don't act like an * and shoot down the guy's post when he never even implied signing players of that quality.

I think the club is doing their own scouting in france, which will hopefully provide more in the nguemo mould from what weve seen so far.

However, ederson is an out and out winger who would command at least £15million, kone would be looking at least £10million and these are far from proven players, not exactly a solution to celtic!

''People say he didnt have a fantastic scoring record, but look at the goals from midfield after he came in,the goals the other boys scored because of the way he played was phenomenal'' The words of Peter Grant,do people not realise Fortune was not signed as an out and out striker,he was signed to fit into the style of play Mowbray and his coaching staff are trying to create.

No, just competitive matches and dont mention Fortune and Larsson in the same sentence again please, one has a WC bronze medal before they came to Celtic and the other was on loan at West Brom.

We should be aiming to find players of those quality (benzema, essien, juninho etc) but we wont find them in France and in our price range

And yet our midfielder is better than some of the players we already have...we aint ever going to sign world stars at celtic we all know that.
Why dont we just turn out the lights and give up.:97:

I didnt say that we try and sign world stars, I'm saying that we find them long before they turn into world beaters but they wont be found in france because every Ligue 1 club has that transfer policy already so we wont be catching any of them out

So on the one hand we should just accept that the SPL is *, we've got * all money in the grand scheme of things and give up on striving for anything better. And on the other hand we should be looking to find 30 million pound players such as benzema. Where we gonna find them then O wise one?

I would have to agree to an extent with the OP. I do believe the French league is a good league to buy players from. The transfer fee's for alot of players in the league are within Celtic's grasp as is the wages. Apart from PSG, Marseille, Monaco, Lyon and Bordeaux, the rest of the clubs pay out relatively low in wages.

With the right contacts there is no doubt a few gems could be unearthed in Ligue 1.
