I dont think we realized how lucky we were to have these 3 at the time (We realize it now), Watching the Hoops We Did it again Dvd, they 3 stand out by a mile, Can you imagine how good they 3 would be in our current team with the style that Mowbray plays?

I think Petrov was amazing at running beyond the strikers, had a great hard shot from outside the box & was Celtic's engine in the Midfield. Something I think we miss, Scott Brown, shows it sometimes, but still feel we need a little extra (Not having a go at Brown, Just prefer Petrov)..

Henrik well, World Class sums him up.. & Moravcik, what a luxury player he was! Could play anywhere in the midfield, Left foot, Right Foot it didnt matter, equally good on both, What a player he was!

    I really miss them :54:

    Just Imagine..

(Throw Mjallby in there, Cos he was class aswell)

    Boruc in Goals

Back 4: Hinkel, Mjallby, Loovens, Fox

    Midfield: McGeady, Petrov, N'Guemo, Moravcik

    Forwards: Larsson & McDonald

    Would be amazing!

Same mate, thats the Celtic i grew up watching and it was such a flair side, i really miss it too.

I think we always compare current players and the current standard of the team compared to MON's team who could beat anyone.

Whenever a talk with me mates or people who don't know about Celtic as much as me i always talk about players like that. Ones the fans took to their hearts instantly because they entertained.

TBH, i wasn't too bothered when Stan left- good fee for him. But he was class and is doing well and after watching some of my DVD's recently we miss him in big games. Loved the big games.

Henrik is world class- best player i have seen in the hoops.

Lubo- strangely enough imo- we had him in his prime. Due to his experience and as he grew with age he got better and had great delivery.

Hope one day we see teams like that, though football has changed a lot since

TBH, I don't remember it as a flair side myself. It was positive and attacking right enough, but was built around bulk and pace rather than flair.

The only flair players we had were ones that MON inherited - Henrik, Lubo, Bobby Petta and Berkovic. MON sold Berkovic (fair enough) and dropped Petta, and throughout the next three years didn't buy a single creative/flair player to replace either. It wasn't till Juninho that he finally reluctantly bit the bullet - and he played him out of position for a couple of games then dropped him.

I think we have a manager now who is genuinely trying to build a flair side - but prior to that I feel the last we had was Tommy Burns.

Mind you, Lubo and Henrik had more flair in their feckin trackie bottoms than there was in the rest of the SPL. :56:

Henrik would never be replaceble. People always said hes only good in the SPL and so on, and then went to Barca n Man U and was the best player in both teams. I think we all knew how lucky we were to have him but probably realised how much luckier we were to have of had him after seeing him play for Man U and Barca haha.:shamrock:

dont be fooloed by nostalgia. that wasnt really a flair side at all. if anything that was a long ball side - a very good long ball side....long ball to sutton flicks for larsson. it was a side riddled with the type of quality exempt in todays team. although it wasnt so much a flair side, it was a passing side full of players not scared to take a shot. moravcik and petrov would consistently score from range. how about this for tough away european trips...

    boruc
    hinkel mjallby loovens fox
    mcgeady brown petrov moravjic maloney
    larsson

I say Flair side, a mean a team with a few very composed and skillful players.

I dont know why i said a side, i meant that these players stood out as the ones that made things happen.

I didnt mean a flair side because there is no way mjallby, Balde, Valgaeren, lennon, lambert and the gk were flair players, i meant those being the flair or skill - what have you, in an effective side. And having two defensive mids allowed these players to do their stuff.

It is possible that i say a flair side purely because they are the big names in that team and ones that, in the spl, were the best attackers. Simple as.

Depends what you mean by flair doesn't it. I mean we had a couple of skillful players amongst a solid team

Great players. Only Grew up watching petrov and larsson, but *.
Petrov is now captain of Aston Villa, and I miss him dearly. Wonder if he would come back before he retires? Larsson the king of kings too bad he refused to come back, but don't blame him he had 7 great years and didnt want to risk coming back and not making an impact.

Throw Chris Sutton into that bracket cos he was an unbelievable player too. I loved having Sutton, Hartson, Larsson at the club as we would always know that there would be two quality strikers up top. Then there was the games where Sutty would slot in at Center Back , and looked like he played there all his life!!

With a team like that we would still be in the Champions League I agree with Mjallby he was a class act in defence.

I mind as a wean I went to a Celtic/Dundee game in Dundee as the guest of an Italian guy who played for Dundee Reserves. After the game I was standing in the private section of the stadium and all of a sudden the entire Celtic team appeared about five metres away from me, presumably waiting for the team bus. I can't remember specifically seeing anyone except from Larsson - but standing near him at that age was something else.

They were there for a few minutes but I was too feart to approach any of them. Big regret.
