You know what, Rapid def seem like a good side but I feel that after the debacle in Hapoel, it will stop us from underestimating your team and I firmly believe this will give us the edge.

I don't know if someone has already said this or not but the game next Thursday night at Celtic Park is being shown live by Channel Five & 3E for those in Ireland.

well actually its not that simple because your club were found to be the guilty party at the initial hearing and then on appeal wankhofer decided (or was told by your custodians) that hey maybe a bottle didnt hit him maybe it was a coin a ufo a flyin pig:rolleyes: that caused this terrible injury he sustained not.25 years later still a club with no integrity seemples:47:

Rapid are a far better team than their ranking suggests. OK, 2 defensive gaffs from Hamburg helped with the result in Vienna, but I have no doubt they're a well-capable team. Them being classed as, and classing themselves as, the underdogs is to their advantage.

They seem well-organised tactically too. I can't say I feel overly realxed about meeting them, and I certainly would rather not have the match in Vienna as a decider.

maybe we won´t get underestimated by Celtic, but the pressure is on to you.

if we can avoid an early goal against us and get the crowd irritated with sitting back with 11 players as Celtic is pushing forward more and more, we might find the room for counter attacks.

what we have learned in this competition so far is, that we are always capable to score at least one goal, free-kick, set piece, whatever. maybe this will be enough.

Those are the tactics I'd expect really. Play it safe - try and steal something. Makes sense.

Deep down, I'd love Rapid to be overconfident and drink half a bottle of Schnapps each before coming on the park - but I don't think that's too likely, is it?

no, not very likely. not against Celtic, not in Glasgow, not in a stadium packed with people seeking revenge.

I am sure, it will be again the decision between Rapid and Celtic.
Except there are some other surprises in this group.

HSV will win there next game against Hapoel.
Perhaps Celtic win the game against Rapid.
This would leave all four clubs with three points after two games.

My favourite results for the final rounds would be:
Celtic-HSV: 2:1 (if we can beat them, you should also gain 3 points)
Hapoel-Rapid: 1:1 (understated, we definitely should beat them)

HSV-Celtic: 1:1 (this will be a winning point for Celtic)
Rapid-Hapoel: 3:1 (if we don't make three points, it's over)

Celtic-Hapoel: 3:1 (if you don't make three points, it's over)
HSV-Rapid: 2:1 (I don't think, we will gain even one point in Hamburg)

    Hapoel-HSV: 1:1 (OK, that's a dream, make things easier)
Rapid-Celtic: 2:0 (have you seen the crowded Happel-Stadium)

That would leave Celtic and Rapid with their home-victorys and 10 points and would throw out HSV and Hapoel... ;-)

    We were in pot 4.
    We know, where we belong.
Believe me, Rapid will not be overconfident in CP.
But we can't lose anything, obviously we have no chance, so this could be the only one ;-)

A brand new piece from Der Standard, for those among you who understand German
    derStandard.at

It's entirely about Weinhofer, and he's quoted saying 'an object hit me on the head, I don't know what it was. I was dazed/dizzy, had a bleeding cut and only regained full consciousness in the dressing room.'

Well, that's what the man himself says. The piece also mentions he's seen as a cheat in Scotland. You see, it's a big topic in Austria, too.

Fair deal. If 'over' refers to neutral territory, that is :grntongue

One thing that may foster your confidence in your team: Yes, Rapid has won against the HSV, but this weekend, they only managed a very slow 0:1 victory against Kapfenberg SV in the Austrian First League, and this was against the second-last team in the league, so they are by far not as unbeatable as they might think after the HSV game ! And playing in the Austrian league doesn´t exactly teach you how to stand against the crowds supporting the other team in an away game ...

    Greetings from Vienna, Fritz

P.S.: If you are planning a trip to Vienna to the match in December and have any questions regarding hotels, public transport, where to go for a pint ... pls. let me know, I will be happy to answer them as good as I can !
