    Onion,

re the red shirt issue on the other thread: I haven't read the original statement in German, but I get the impression 'funny' is a mistranslation. Seriously I don't think my club are trying to wind you up. No doubt that encounter 25 years ago evokes memories of all kinds on both sides, and it certainly is a special occasion to meet again albeit for different reasons I suppose. Our colours are green and white, and we won't be able to wear either of them in Glasgow. Our third colours for away games are blue and red; for obvious reasons (1984, Rangers) we won't wear blue. No way we're going to choose a colour that's got nothing to do with the club. So red's all that's left, and the 'funny' thing about it is that these are ManUtd's colours. So I'd say it's an unintended pun.

I understand you'll find it hard to believe when I say 'no offence', but I'm being serious here.

    question.

I'm a newbie here, so I'm not sure if that's the right place to bring it up (probably not), but I got me two 3game packages for the europa league. Unfortunately I'm not living in Glasgow, I'm from germany, so I won't be able to come over for every game. - Yes, that's bothering me too! :87:

Is there an area in this forum where you guys are running some kind of ticket exchange?

I do have these tickets for the vienna game from the packages and won't be able to make it myself. So I was thinking maybe I can do someone in here a favor? I would sell them for half the price.

You sold your best striker to a little English club. You are a small club with a small club mentality :bbpd:

    Hello, post in this thread:
    http://www.talkceltic.net/forum/talkceltic-c-s-c/47020-selling-buying-tickets-post-here-only.html
Remember to read the rules on the first page before selling your tickets though

:56: It's 2 times funnier because the austrians wont understand it

    let´s all do the huddle..
do we really need postings like this? i´m a bit embarrassed to see all this in here. of course they cheated but celtic fans went on the pitch and punched and kicked them!

let´s give them a warm welcome at celtic park and proof them that we are so much better than the blue half of glasgow cause we´re only caring about celtic and not about stories and tales from 25 years ago.... :celt_2::shamrock:

    Hello There!

You call us Cheater, we see it from the other side. When i look a the whole thing i think we where right that time. The attacks, the many obtjects that where thrown on the pitch.....
.... Anyway.... I was very happy when we where drawn into your group. I've never been in Scotland bevore and that is now a good reason to visit the Homecountry of the Marillion Singer Derek William *, also known as Fish, which i'am a great Fan of.
I'm also happy to see the Celtic Park for the first time and to here YNWA.
I think thats the best group we can get.

Best regards from vienna, c u next week.:bbpd:

Mrs. Edit says: I apologize for some embarrassing guys from my side who are talking * in this forum...

Read today that UEFA didn't allow us (for whatever reasons) to wear our usual red and blue third colours. Now, as I said, we won't be able to wear green, white, or green and white. We surely won't wear all blue. We're not allowed to wear red and blue ... now what's left?

Just for the record Dazza, he was our second best striker, the best one was sold to SSC Napoli in Italian Serie A :)

My roommate is a rapid supporter and keeps telling about that match in 1984 every day again and again ... we might just hope for a good game no?

Thing is i don't particularly dislike rapid, their rivals austria vienna are much worse ...

Nevertheless, we surely are the favorites in this game!:shamrock:

That's fair enough, nobody wants to see any violence before or after the match.

Rapid Vienna is the underdog in this group-stage, we know it, you know it. But as you could see in the qualification against AV and the first game against HSV, even underdogs can bark with the big ones.

I would be happy with a draw in CP, but even a defeat would not be the end of the world, because we didn't calculate with the three points we've gained against HSV.

We have to defeat Hapoel twice, will not earn any points in Hamburg and as far as I can see, it will be a very tough group-stage with a final game against your team in Vienna.

If Rapid Vienna still remains on 1st and Celtic needs a draw to throw out HSV and Tel Aviv, I would be very happy to see a draw in the last game ;-)

    Let's enjoy the games ;-)

    Hi from Vienna!

First i have to say, i´m really surprised by the hatred towards us here, really never realized that before.

anyhow, naturally i have a completely different view on the events of 1984 than the celtic fans, so i guess arguing about it won´t make much sense on here.

looking on the sporting aspect of the game next week, i believe it will be a tough game, for both sides. i´m confident we (Rapid) won´t get slaughtered and i certainly believe, we are capable of taking away a point from Glasgow, which would be perfectly fine for me.

generally this is a very open group. i believe Hapoel can cause problems to any other team and Hamburg will have to improve quite a bit if they want to proceed as well. of course we won 3:0, but HSV made a very arrogant and slack impression.

and for the red jersey, there was certainly no intention to provoke Celtic, why would we? it´s just a reminiscence of a very successful season in the club´s history (and we didn´t have so many of them).
was kinda funny to read the articles in the scottish media about the "wind up" though.

anyway, really looking forward to next week. there will sure be some atmosphere :86:

In today's Austrian daily Der Standard, quote:

'Im Lager von Celtic ist man nach wie vor größtenteils davon überzeugt, dass Weinhofer die blutende Wunde erst in der Rapid-Kabine zugefügt wurde.'

'Large parts of the Celtic camp still are convinced Weinhofer's bleeding cut was only inflicted on him in the Rapid changing rooms.'

There are stitches on his head to prove that he was injured. [Edit: must admit I haven't seen them with my own eyes though.] It's equally obvious that he wasn't hit by a bottle; TV coverage suggests he didn't even see the flying bottle as he went down long before it got near him.

Don't think we'll ever come to an agreement on the issue. You feel cheated; we would have felt cheated without the re-match.

The article also gives the impression that it's slowly dawning on Rapid that Celtic are feeling rather angry. Good for us I suppose - forewarned is forearmed, and we're a side that thrives on opposition.

I just hope that when we get down to business it'll be without foul play on both sides. Burns, Grant, Ehn and Kienast all set rather shameful examples. You'll no doubt include Weinhofer in that list, we won't. Nothing much to add, is there.

    Luke

Ta for the link - excellent. Bit odd to find out he's such a decent chap, after 25 years with the only memory of him stamping on a Rapid player's head (and missing a penalty).

He's talking us a bit up though, no way we could've beaten Villa 5-0. Wasting of chances has been our greatest weakness in recent games, but we didn't create that many opportunities in the Villa game.
