First time I have heard of this.

    My .02cents:

-He should be locked in jail until he is no more (and this comes from a very passive person).
-The letter reads like a stereotypical, old, Conservative hick wrote it. I completely disagree with this "boycott" of Scotland. It appears to be nothing but the rants of one of the "AMERICA * YEAH!" type of people here in The States.

I would not worry about it IMHO. :86:

that reminds me of an organisation that wanted the whole us to boycott Switzerland. they recommended to boycott viking stuff, volvo cars etc..

unfortunately that stuff comes from Sweden, not Switzerland...

I totally agree with the release, what sense to keep the guy in for a few months when he can be used to at least try and show others that the west does have some forgiveness and compassion, if this stops at least a few people from becoming terrorists then it is worth it, oh and it is believed he didnt do it!...brave descision and one i am proud of!

    But... he's right.

Anyone who is terminally ill can be realeased. Anyone. You, me, Megrahi. If that's right or wrong isn't important, it's the Law and it's the JSs job to see that it's followed.

The Law cannot be made, administered or ignored by raw emotion. It must remain consistent and apathetic towards emotion. Otherwise, we end up in a situation where panic ensures are our Rights are slowly stripped away as fear and scapegoating take hold.

The complaining from America, generally, comes from people with no understanding of Scots Law or the way devolution works, people who quite happily flout their own national and international laws and who feel Fundamentalist Christian and "American" values ought to rule the world.

(Not in all cases of course, but generally that's the idea of the most prominant members of the Jingo Brigade)

These are people who have sent kids I know to the middle of some sandy * so white, rich, Christian, Corporate America can boss the world around, who encourage and commit kidnap, torture and don't agree with trial by jury. These people have used Scotland as a base to store WMDs and secretly transport people to concentration camps for torture.

These are people who hinted that going free on compassionate grounds was a better option than an appeal and an enquiry into the investigation. What does that tell you?

Should we let these people dictate the way we run our little corner of the Universe? No, no we should not. We might well make mistakes, but it's a * sight better than what they're doing.

Couldn't find it at the local store :54: We don't seem to have much of a selection, I ended up with a 12yr Glenfiddich. The store clerk didn't seem to give a * either -- no knowledge of the "boycott". :50:

I don't support a boycott of Scotland (it hasn't really been discussed, this website is some looney-loon fringe guy who won't go far so take a deep breath) otherwise how am I going to watch our beloved hoops? Everyone calm down and stop calling us dumb, stop ripping on Fox News, I know they have twice the audience of CNN and MSNBC combined but that's no reason to be snippy (in the words of one of the CNN segments, Jusss Sayin! :bbpd:)

I have a legitimate reason to be concerned now: Qaddafi will be in my area next month (a neighboring township to be exact) Qaddafi Plans N.J. Encampment as Residents Pitch Fit (Update2) - Bloomberg.com. Costing the city, county, and state taxpayers more and more money for the added law enforcement surrounding this... Thanks Kenny!!! :31:

what a joke this bold part is. kenny mcaskill made the decsion on behalf of scotland, he shouldnt be thinking about how it will affect america in the future, im sure that should be the last of his considerations. typical arrogance from americans, the world does not revolve around you.

I'm not saying he should, but if the tables were turned, you surely would not be so happy. You also seem to neglect the fact that there were many (if not all, someone can call me out on a fact check, you can feel high an mighty later) American lives on that plane, MII. Every decision has international ramifications, in spite of your ideal bubble world. So yes, it is a matter for you to deal with, but I think America should have some say, particuarly for the sake of the families who don't have living relatives today.

I like their responce to the whole sympathy for his illness thing.

One said we shouldn't show mercy to someone who isn't prepared to show it to us - sorry, but does that not make you as bad as him? "An eye for an eye makes the whole world...

...look funny because nobody has eyes"

most Americans don't even know where 'Scaaatland' is, spent 6 months there most knew it was in Europe (which they think is a country), some thought it was town outside of London, people from the east and west coast of the states are pretty clued up people, it those stupid * in the middle and the south that are the cause of all the * that is bad in the USA
