So this is dumb, but who cares...

I'm getting a month free preview of Setanta, and right now they are showing a rugby tourney, "The Currie Cup".

I'm watching this, but I have no * idea about what is going on. I have always wanted to try to get in to rugby, but my ignorance is keeping me down . Can anyone explain what the * the rules are, how the game works, and so on?

I figured it would be better to ask actual people to see what they say.

    Thanks guys. :celt_2:

    Basically.....

    NO passing forwards
SCRUM when ball is passed forward
RUCK when someone is tackled and on ground
MAUL when someone is in a tackle but not on grund (standing)
    TRY is worth 5 points
CONVERSION is worth 2 after a try and 3 as a penalty
    DROP-KICK is worth 3

Above post pretty much sums it up. Difference between rugby and american football, is you don't have a limited amount of times to score, like the 4 downs in AF. When a player is tackled, a ruck usually occurs when people from either side compete for the ball on the floor, like after a fumble in AF. A maul happens sometimes when the players compete for the ball whilst standing up. The ball is usually passed along the back line to the wingers who are the fastest, but thats not always the case. That pretty much sums it up I think
