I'm sure the appeal would be heard before the Aberdeen match.

Heh... that is mighty ironic. First time in 2 years when we could actually use him... and... he's finally gone.

Let's hope the appeal holds things up.

Flood at centre back would be suicide. 5'6 or something lol

i would imagine he would take a leaf out of Martin O'Neill's Celtic book and play three at the back with N'Guemo mopping up in front of them.

i wouldn't mind playing with three at the back. i have confidence in N'Guemo to perform this task. with Aberdeen getting humped in Europe, i think we'll hammer them with us having having five midfielders and two strikers.

Celtic appeal allows Glenn Loovens to face Aberdeen in SPL opener

    Aug 8 2009 Hugh Keevins
CELTIC last night lodged an appeal against the one-match ban handed out to Glenn Loovens for his challenge on Old Firm rival Maurice Edu in May.
But Scotland's World Cup qualifier against Norway on Wednesday is set to free up the Dutch defender to face Aberdeen next Saturday and avert a defensive crisis for Tony Mowbray.
SFA officials won't have time to set up an appeals committee to hear Loovens' case while they're in Oslo, meaning he will be eligible for Pittodrie.
Mowbray is already without the injured Stephen McManus and banned Gary Caldwell, who's serving a one-game suspension held over from last season.
Darren O'Dea was the only centre-back left available but now red tape will give Loovens the green light for the opening day of the season.
Striker Scott McDonald was cleared to face the Dons when the SFA review panel decided he had no case to answer for a challenge on Dundee United defender Lee Wilkie.
The verdict arose from a tackle that incensed United manager Craig Levein. He had a sharp exchange of words with referee Stuart Dougal then slated the now-retired official's conduct.
Wilkie also criticised Dougal for telling him that his children had received heftier slaps than the one he got from McDonald.
But the SFA appear to agree with Dougal and not the player

Glad to hear it Loovens & O'Dea could replace the Caldwell Mick Partnership!

Good news. i think Loovens will end up with a ban and the board will know this, however it's too much of a risk just to accept it and play Aberdeen with just one natural centre half.

Hats off to the board. Well done.

quite good, i thought they appealed to overturn the ban, but lookslike they figured out he would get to played against aberdeen even if he does get a ban later on
