Is John "Smeato" Smeaton really that much of a hero , i mean he wasnt the only who attacked the terrorist's there were 3 other guys but for some other reason he gets all the attention. Im not saying what he did was an excelllent thing i just dont get why its only him thats recognized ?

He has always stated that he wasn't the only one that put the boot in
Blame the media for singling him out as a hero.

I know he's a 'hun' as does everyone here... However every last person who 'reacted' on that day played there part in possibly saving lifes and that includes the perps.

In such time's of unease not just here in the UK but all over the world i think we needed some feel good 'propaganda' and a 'hero' such as his in 'your face enthusiasim' for what he took part in he was the perfect candidate. So IMO yes he was a hero and it gave an awful lot of people a feel good factor when at times things where awfy tense.

Edit: Can i also say neil, every person involved got honoured. It's just smeato isas i say in your face so he had a propaganda appeal.

I dont think he actually done much, I thought all he actually did was kick one of them after the other guys had him restrained.
All he did was mouth off on the telly, like the hun pikey * he is.

Was a thread on this ages ago, it was widely agreed he is nothing more than a tabloid created icon. Whether or not you think that's a good or bad thing is up to you really.

Am I right in saying he just kicked a guy whilst on fire and on the floor? That's not a hero, thats a thug! Well maybe not as it was a terrorist but no way does that constitute a hero. The hero's are the fireman that went and put the fire out, who go in burning buildings and rescue people. The * also has chronic asthma yet was on a * break. * *
