The Queen represents an idea that I absolutely detest, that someone can be held in higher esteem simply because of their birthright. The pope represents an institution that I absolutely detest, an institution that can be considered the most corrupt and harmful influence on human history.

The queen and the rest of her family are leeches to the taxpayer. Everytime i see those * on a ski trip i want to vomit. The pope on the other hand is a great human being. Its a tough one but im siding with the pope :icon_mrgreen:

The queen is my superior due to birth right (* that) and other than bringing in tourism I don't see much point in the monarchy. The pope is the representative of * on Earth but I don't believe in *. Not an atheist but agnostic. As Diegan says, the catholic church has done some very harmful things throughout history. I know that both of them do a large amount of charitable work among other things, so you could argue that they've both got their positive points.

The Catholic Church as an institution was what I was specifically referring to, although the argument holds for most major organized religions.

Even though I think religion is a load of bollox, at least the Popes worked hard to get where he is and is elected. The Queen should do the decent thing and give up her title as she does * all and is one of the richest people in Britain. Britain a democracy? Aye right, the most powerfull person does * all and is there because she was born into it.

The Pope is the elected official of the Catholic church and has worked all his life to get there. I don't believe in the monarchy and feel it should be done away with, if possible ?

hopefully this doesnt turn into a one sided argument because its a celtic forum

i'd say neither, one represents imperialism and exploitation, the other used to be in the hitler youth

the pope is a hero in my eyes. like hundreds years ago when my forefathers went to rome to defend my pope I would do the same today if he asked me to.

I hate every single royal family and member on this planet.

Both are nothing more than a hangover from the dark ages, remnants from a medieval way of thinking, both ancient traditions that the human race needs to wash it hands of.

Both exist because they claim they have a divine right to, that they are empowered by "*", a being that they claim they are the path to. Both are thus built on a lie, both are backward and detrimental to the progression of society. Amongst many other things, they must go if our society is to truly grow.
