    Only seen this today:

Gerry Adams: A united Ireland is possible | Comment is free | guardian.co.uk

Thoughts? It is interesting to see Adams and Sinn Fein initiate discussions with the British Government, but I honestly cant see this going anywhere. He is barking mad if he thinks the loyalists will sit back and compromise. IMO the only hope we have of a United Ireland is through the EU.

He tried war and then peaceful ways, it's not going to happen. He has to make this * up every now and again to keep him in his well (British government) paid job. He's a *.

totally agree mate! :50: and not just ireland! every nation in europe will be united once all the european countries get admission into the eu!

that is definitely the best way! no wars! no conflicts! a peacefull uniting of all uropean nations and their integration into the european union (that i think is gonna be a federation in 50 years time)!

i'm hopefull tbh, it wont happen over night but its on the cards. about time gerry got the finger out. sinn fein have sold the working man down the river, i dont actually rate any of them as politicians. their short comings have been horribly exposed

there is too much hatred amoungst catholic and protostants to have a united ireland!

i would love for that too happen and peace forever? but it wont happen as there are too many people on both sides that will always be against it i think.and besides the english may have something to say too?

There is 3 things I would love to see before I shuffle of this mortal coil.

    1. Celtic win the Champions League
    2. Scotland gain its Independence back
    3. The six counties be returned to their rightful owner

I wonder which one I am most likely to see.........

Do Sinn Fein put candidates forward in the Republic or are they just a six counties party fighting for a united Ireland?

they have some excellent representitives in the republic too. they're growing big time in the south. in a few years time they will be a major force. sinn fein excell in working class areas where they have a more "hands on" approach than the more middle class parties

So what are your opinions on a potential United Ireland? Do you think it is possible in our lifetime? If so, by what methods?

A united * and Catholic Ireland may have well died with Wolfe Tone.

Maybe through a 3rd party overarching organization like the EU. The research I've done on North irish public opinion just makes it look undoable as a single state solution
