    Mariners Taking The Michael?

FORMER Celtic midfielder Michael McGlinchey is hoping to kick-start his stalled career with Central Coast Mariners.

According to a report in the Scottish media, the New Zealand-born player will be given the chance to earn himself a deal Down Under.
McGlinchey, 22, was released by Celtic in the summer and had been training with Partick Thistle.
He told the Daily Record: "This is not something I was expecting but my agent Jim Harkins called me to say he had an interested party abroad.
"I was over in Portugal being best man at my brother's wedding so it's great news and an exciting opportunity. I'm up for the challenge and it's a case of having a look around the club and they will get the chance to look at me.
"I've never lost confidence in my ability so I'm going to give it a real go and see how things work out."
McGlinchey, who made his debut for Celtic as a teenager, had a trial with FC Toronto after learning he was to be released by the Hoops.
He represented Scotland at the 2007 Under 20 World Cup.

Was the next big thing aged 15, never hit the heights though. Shame really.

He was never really tried or tested though to be fair to the lad.

He could still probably become a decent player, he's got good pace about him if memory serves me correct and he likes to run at folk.

Never really heard anything about the Australian league, but if its anything like ours he'll do you's a job.

I've been following McGlinchey's story since he was let go from Celtic and it's been kind of sad since he was searching high and low for a place in another team. Fair play to the lad though, he was willing to go far away to try and make a career out of what he knew and it looks like it's off to a good start.

Good luck to him, I think we will become a good player still and have a good career, I met him once in Subway in Clydebank.
