You also have to realize that these players played and showed their worth in the EPL, whereas Scott Brown showed his worth in the SPL. Two different beasts there.

The fact mowbray is eager to get brown back and into the starting 11 says he rates him highly. He wont be moving anywhere.

He is a player with great potential and will develop into a top player with us.

It is a crackpot idea :38: We are building the whole team around Skoosh, and he is a future captain in waiting

Yet another three Broonie fans that can't explain what he brings to the team to make him worth £7M or more...

All we have so far is that he is energetic, determined and hard working

As for "we are building the whole team around him", where has this nonsense come from? Don't clubs that build teams around certain players pick ones that are creative?

What do people have against Brown?

I've read a few comments and it seems there are a few that would rather get rid of him than keep him. Yes he can be a bit rash, run about aimlessley. But he was voted Player of the Year by his peers and we didn't pay 4mil+ for a donkey. The guy has major potential and could be a top player.

I'm gona agree with the majority of the fans on this one and keep Brown. I don;t think you could sign a better player than Brown, or the same potential as Brown for less than 5-6mil. If anyone has any suggestions as to who would be a better option (but realistic) please enlighten us.

Making Skoosh the captain would be like electing the Honey Monster as Pope.

He cannae even marshall himself never mind the team.

People dont have anything against him, the OP asked if it would be good business to sell him if we get an offer of £7m, I think it would.

As for being voted player of the year, the players get a choice from about 4 people and cant vote from players in their own team, and given Mendes and Davis were 2 of the candidates, it shows you what a lot of * the thing was.

Fair play. But after reading a good few comments there seems to be a feeling that people jsut straight up don't like Scot Brown.

If you sold Brown now, yes we'd probably get £7-9m

If we held on to him and he lived up to the potential he has, becoming a great box to box midfielder with goals, tackles and agression in his game we could probably get £10-12m later in life not to mention a few more good years of him hounding the huns off the park.

Selling him at this moment in time, to me is insane.

Edit: If we sold Brown, who would bring the intense agression to the games that he does? Who would explain to wee N'Guemo what the Old Firm midfield battles are all about?

Crosas wouldn't bring it. He's a class act of a player but he's not got agression really.

Congratulations young sir, you will make a fine poster child for the 'Broonites'
    Hopefully, yes.
This is a massive IF, in terms of living up to potential. At the moment two seasons in (and I accept mitigating circumstances in his first season), he certainly hasn't proven that he has the goals in him so far to even be considered in the £10-£12M bracket.

I'll give you agression though, and as far as his attributes go, up to page 12 we so far have; Energetic, Hard working, Aggresive and Determined

Is that it? just throw insults rather than provide any real reason as to why you disagree?

You consider Brown one of our best players, but have provided nothing as to say why, just like so many others.

well in a year were are team did not perform well brown was the stand out player (aswell as caldwell) that earning him players player of the year. Hes only 24 with bags of potential. Why dont we sell caldwell or Boruc?

Well, we can agree on one point, the team did not perform well last season, certainly after Christmas, in fact the entire SPL was bereft of anyone particularly eyecatching, this may explain why someone who in the main huffs and puffs and puts themselves about gets attention.

In regards to selling Boruc, I would'nt be keen on that. Firstly, over the seasons he's proven that a large percentage of the time he is genuinely 'international class', and on many occassions 'world class'. However last year seen him blighted with personal problems which lead to erratic behavior both on and off the park. With his form dipping and question marks about his private life, I doubt we would get the optimal price for him this summer. He still has a good length of time on his contract and should hopefully rediscover his brilliant form soon (already looking good in pre-season). In terms of players "we would'nt be able to afford or attract" if they were playing elsewhere, I think he is definitely one. That said, everyone has his price, but I just can't see anyone making a big money offer for him this summer. In summary, if we ever do sell him, now is not the prime time to do so.

On Caldwell, very different circumstances to Scott, he's arrived on a bosman so has cost us very little over the time he has been here, relatively speaking. At present he is on much less than Brown in terms of wage (£25k p/w for Brown I read), however he is in the final year of his contract and is reported (how accurate is anyone's guess) to be looking for £19k p/w. On the playing side, I think he has the qualities to make one half of a good central defensive pairing, so i'd like to keep him. Caldwell dosen't seem to have the same profile as Scott does (which I find a mystery in itself), and there has been very little if anything linking him to the EPL, so I doubt any big money offers will come in for him (which would be unlikely anyway as he only has a year left on his contract). If he's willing to re-sign i'd be happy to see him stay, however, if it turns out he is not willing to commit his future to the club then I wouldn't be overly dissapointed if the club decided to sell him.
